Will not vote for Trump, but no pro-life Democrats?

I will not vote for Trump in the 2020 election.

I do not believe he endorses Christian principles in his lifestyle or policies.

But there are also no pro-life Democrats that I know of.

How to proceed?

Third party?

(Disclaimer - I’m not American).

A 3rd party candidate will not win. America has been entrenched in its two-party system. It will come down to a Republican and a Democrat, and Trump will certainly be the Republican.

P.S. I’m also asking if there ARE pro-life candidates. I just don’t know of any. Who is the least extreme? Is there at least a moderate? etc.

What Christian principles do you not think he embraces? Government welfare and Govt healthcare aren’t Christian principles since they’re based on wealth distribution and forced charity (forcing someone to pay tax in order to give the $$ to someone else). Jesus supported voluntary charity not involuntary charity. Trump supports voluntary charity, where people have more freedom to donate their own money to charity if they choose. If they choose not to, that is their choice, which they will have to live with when they stand before God. Jesus never compelled anyone to do good deeds.

Why ask, and then assume you know what I’m referring to?

I’ve discerned that Trump is not a good Christian example, in both behavior and policies.

Sadly, I am unaware of any pro-life Dem candidates at the Presidential level.

With respect to a moderate Dem candidate generally, Biden is about the best one, and from a Catholic perspective in addition to a risk of more MeToo stories coming out, that’s a pretty weak pick.

Does anyone know if the current Bishop of Scranton is letting Biden receive Communion again, or is it a moot point since he hasn’t lived there in ages?

I’m in your boat as well. I also refuse to cast a ballot for Mr. Trump in 2020. While I appreciate all that he has done for the Pro-Life cause, I cannot abide much else about him or his presidency.

What to do? I am not persuaded by any of the current dem candidates, and the direction the Democrats are taking their support for abortion is disgusting and untenable.

So, I wait and pray that an acceptable candidate will emerge. Otherwise, I will be forced to vote 3rd party. Something that I have always vowed not to do.

I had this decision to make in the last election, except at the time I was away from the church, and had been for many years. This time is going to be a lot tougher because thanks to God my heart has softened. I might not be able to vote at all this time.

Do you agree with this:

I think for many Democrats, they just take on the pro-choice position. But if you hear what they talk about, it’s not like they’re going around campaigning for more abortion. It’s just something they aren’t really talking about.

So maybe we have to start thinking about practicality instead of mere theory. Will it make an actual difference if the President has a personal position on abortion? Will that president even make it a major issue? etc.

In much the same way Trump took on pro-life position because it was the party’s position. But he hasn’t exactly been an icon for the pro-life position.

Presidents primarily influence abortion law by naming judges to the Supreme Court. They also have a small amount of (name removed by moderator)ut on funding for PP and similar. But it’s mostly about the Supreme Court.

I agree with the premise that many Democrats take in a pro-abortion position because they think they have to. I also believe that they would also sign pro-abortion legislation because they felt they had to. That is the danger.

There is no doubt that if the Dems have the house and the senate, they will send pro-abortion legislation to the president’s desk.

No, on that issue Biden is definitely NOT moderate; he is firmly pro-choice. There are NO pro-life Democratic candidates so far running for President in 2020. The Governor of Louisiana, John Bel Edwards, is a pro-life Democrat who may run in 2024. There are a few pro-life Democrats in the House and at least one in the Senate, but I don’t believe any of them are running for President.
