As society changes, so too must the Church in respect to what Catholic teachings are emphasized. The basic teachings of Christ, such and helping those in poverty, seems to be what Pope Francis is emphasizing.
Some of the people he references are pretty broken already, but most of the article was speculation and assumption. Does he speak true? I would say, that is unknowable and irrelevant. We cannot know how much he sees truly because we can read the future and the mind of the Holy Father little better than he can. In the end, que sera sera.
He couldn’t break the Church even if he wanted to (which he doesn’t).
Napoleon once said to the Pope that he will destroy the Catholic Church. The Pope’s response was" You will fail because you cannot destroy from the outside what we have tried to destroy from the inside for centuries".
Point he made is God will ensure that the gates of Hell will never prevail against His Church regardless of who is leading it.
If the Church can survive after an admittedly bad Pope like Alexander VI, then it can survive a good Pope like Francis.
