Will there be violence on the streets of Dublin

I shouldnt have read that. Another sleepless night of depression awaits me.
 
Hi Ceasar, The documentary is being shown 10 15 sunday evening here ,I have been talking to my Irish friends and they are not ruling out violence on the streets of Dublin or Belfast , Ceasar not of what has or is happening is your fault, it is because people who had the power thought more of the church than the people in it yours michael

Yes, I understand. I just have a big problem with this entire scandal, the priests who committed these crimes and the Bishops who hid them. I cannot comprehend why these men would do such a thing to children and why their superiors add insult to injury by covering everything up. The role of a Bishop is supposed that of a shepherd- to protect his flock from enemies without and within. The Bishops failed the Church. It is as if they didn’t even care.

My only consolation and they only thing I can offer to the victims, comes from my Catholic faith- that the priests and the Bishops who have sinned so gravely against the people of the Church will one day be in a place where nobody can hide them from justice.

But I am still depressed by the issue. I have overcome many obstacles to my faith in the last few years- worldly obstacles, theological obstacles- but this is like a brick wall. It goes beyond the logic and contemplation I see my faith in- it is a spiritual obstacle that seems to shake the foundation of my faith. Why would such a thing happen? Why do I still want to be priest when so many have sinned against their followers and the entire Church? It is hard to reconcile my deepest desire with such an atrocity.

But that is my problem, and my problems are my own.
 
Ceasar ,no man is an island ,and to over come this deep battering your faith has taken you will need others to help you ,yours michael
 
Hi all, When the scandal was erupting in the U S A and Ireland ,A five year old was being raped because of the cover up and the Hierarchys refusel to put child abusers out of the reach of children. For a five year old wanting to die because of the abuse he suffered shows there is some this very wrong in the church ,Yours michael

I have nobody who would help me. My parents dont care about faith; my sister is a protestant (although I doubt she is anymore active in her liberal protestant denomination than she was in the Church); my friends couldnt care less; I dont have personal relationships with my teachers; and I dont want to get into the sex-abuse scandal with my spiritual director- at least not yet, not after I saw the old rector of the Cathedral I go to trembling with rage and sadness as he read Bishop Fabbro’s letter on a recent case in my Diocese (the Bishop is all talk, no action on the matter): even the priests who couldnt be more removed from the sandals find it hard to discuss it. I would not do that to my spiritual director.
 
So you see, I am rather amazed that I want to be a priest- coming from a family and from a society that doesnt care about anything in the realm of faith.

Ugh, no more turning the News Forum into a support group.
