“One true Church which is the pillar and foundation of truth.”

That’s right! 👍

By the way mr. 12 volt man, no one will ever convince me
that the Catholic church is not the One True Church. it is
the One True Church. Ever heard of Apostolic succession?
If you have, you know that the pope is Saint Peter’s
successor. fact.

Learning is a 2 way street. The teachers taught you. You, apparently, absorbed nothing of value or truth.
Then you are at a serious disagreement with the priests who taught me.

Why are you here?

To offer my opinions as non-Catholics are invited to do here.
Do you wish to learn what The Catholic Church is *really *about?
I know what the Roman Catholic church is about. That’s the problem.
Or are you here to preach heresy?
Nope. No heresy here. Everything I’ve said is straight from God’s word.

Yes, I’ve heard of it. I also know that scripture doesn’t support such an idea.

Marilena:
Heresy, by the sounds of it. Also blashpemy. I will not idly sit by and listen to someone knock down our belief, or the pope.
Yes, Heaven forbid that we should acknowledge that the pope is not God.

Unlike you, I was not blessed with a Catholic education and do not know Latin.

But I would guess what you wrote is outside of the Church, there is no salvation?
For somebody who says she doesn’t know Latin, that’s pretty good.

I wish I didn’t know my Spanish as well as you don’t know your Latin. 🙂
Those who through no fault of their own, do not know the truth of the Catholic Church, know that Christ not only died for their sins but established the One true Church which is the pillar and foundation of truth. These separated Brethren may still be part of God’s family.
But what about those of us who are relying solely on Christ for salvation and not the rituals, traditions or authority of the pope?
Does this apply to you since you were educated in the teachings of Christ in the Catholic Church?
Like I said, I completely reject the teachings and the neccessity of the Roman Catholic church to be saved.

I am relying solely on the person, claims, and finished atoning work of Jesus Christ for my salvation.

No baptism. No eucharist. No allegiance to the pope. No last rites. No nothin’.

Just Jesus’ shed blood at Calvary.
Do you really want to bet your soul on this?
My soul is not up for grabs.

If the words of Jesus are to be believed (as I believe that they are), then my soul is as safe and sound as a babe in it’s mama’s arms.
Maybe you should look into as an adult what the Catholic Church actually teaches.
Why? What have they changed?

Thank you, Maria, for being the only one here who has been polite to me.

that the pope is Saint Peter’s

There is no scriptural evidence or early tradition (prior to 150 CE) that the Bishop of Rome was intended to be Peter’s successor.

The pope NEVER proclaims to be God!!! He is Christ’s vicar
on earth!!!

He’s a sinful man, the same as any of the rest of us.

Neither is mine my friend. Neither is mine. 👍
Then why do you say that you don’t know whether or not you are saved, when the Bible says that these things are written to you so that you can know that you have eternal life?

Is it not up to Jesus to decide who is saved and who is not?
Would you say a murderer who knows Christ and does not
repent is saved? Also, what happens if a person refuses to confess
a mortal sin? and he dies in that state of mortal sin?

Yes, it is. Jesus Christ has told us that we can know beyond the shadow of a doubt that we are saved.

Would you like to know that you are saved?

First of all, there’s no such thing as mortal sin.

Second, if someone who is reconciled to God through Christ, through a moment of passion or a moral lapse, committs a murder, then he is still reconciled to God through Christ.

Being saved does not mean that you no longer sin. In fact, the Bible tells us (and it is speaking to those who are already saved) that, if we say we have no sin, we’re deceiving ourselves.

No, it doesn’t mean that we don’t sin. It means that we don’t live a lifestyle of deliberately willful disobedience.

You are not saved by being a Protestant, you are saved if you believe in the teaching of the Roman Catholic Church, and you must belong to the Church. This is because there is only one Church on earth, the Church that Jesus founded on the twelve apostles. Go and preach to the world, those who will believe and be baptized will be saved. Those who will not believe, will be damned.

Protestants are not saved. They reject the Body of Christ. They reject the sacrament of Penance.

Protestants (and by “protestants”, I’m assuming you mean Baptists, too) do not reject the body of Christ, they are a part of the body of Christ (as are we Baptists). We do reject the Unbiblical “sacrement of penance”. We believe that salvation comes by faith in Christ, as Christ, Himself, taught, not through rituals.

Judge not! Isnt that what the Bible says? For only God knows who will be saved and it is only God who will determine who are the sheep and who are the goats. Christianity isnt some club where you join and all the rest is just window dressing. There is still work to be done in order to remain in the good graces of God. Sinning and the lack of repentance will keep you out of heaven no matter if you are a Christian.

Who cares what the Bible says when you have the pope?
Im sure that Christ would not take too kindly to your attacks on the Pope. Im not Roman Catholic either.

First of all, I haven’t attacked the pope. Acknowledging that he is not God and is not infallible is hardly an “attack”.

Besides, if you think that’s bad, you ought to see what the Bible has to say about the Roman Catholic church.

Well pray tell, what does the bible say about the Roman Catholic church?
