Have you ever talked to or read reports by an OB/GYN who was practicing in the '40s, '50s, or '60s? The exploitation by a small minority of abortion providers today pales compared to the suffering of women who died from sepsis or exsanguination after illegal abortions before Roe v. Wade. All subpar abortion providers should be shut down, have licenses stripped, and be prosecuted if appropriate, but it’s a little silly to say legal abortion should be outlawed when it’s a safer procedure than a colonoscopy.
In every successful abortion, someone dies. It’s usually the baby. That isn’t necessarily true in a colonoscopy.

I’m all for the woman (mother) being safe in any medical procedure I would just prefer that the baby would be just as safe.

I’m as pro-life as anyone, but pinning this one on people who support legal abortion is wildly disingenuous. Literally no one is arguing in favor of this.
I agree with you. There is a difference between those that would seduce, rape and dangerously cause an abortion from those that think if you don’t applaud a woman having a right to have a fetus ripped apart and removed from her body, is the evil.

Randomuser:
What about infant mortality? Much like miscarriages, there doesn’t seem to be much talk in “pro-life” circles about infant mortality rates (the U.S. rates are appalling) or miscarriages. There’s more to being anti-abortion than simply being anti-abortion. Stories like this won’t magically change that.
Let’s look at some of that Randomuser.
What about infant mortality?
Pro life people are concerned with it.

But the** pro-abortion people almost never express concern over the virtual 100% preborn infant mortality that occurrs with abortion.**

Also Randomuser:
Much like miscarriages, there doesn’t seem to be much talk in “pro-life” circles about infant mortality rates (the U.S. rates are appalling) or miscarriages.
Doesn’t sound like you’ve been around many pro-lifers then.

Many in the pro-abortion world would say miscarried babies are NOT even persons.

Randomuser again:
There’s more to being anti-abortion than simply being anti-abortion.
We know someone who works professionally in pro-life ministry. They do pro-life counseling, but they also do diapers, infant car seats, infant clothes, helps for single moms, etc. etc.

They’ve NEVER had a pro-abortion person come in and offer to help with the post natal work (and there is plenty that needs to be done). Never. Not once.

No volunteers, no prospective employees. None.

Stories like this won’t magically change the fact that pro-abortion people never lift a finger to help the post-born (here at this place, so far), but there’s MORE to saying you are concerned about life than . . . Well . . . Merely saying it.

Imachine on abortion.
It’s a procedure . . .
What kind of “procedure”? What occurs?

Imachine again:
It’s a procedure where a woman . . . has the fetus removed.
What is a “fetus”?

What occurrs when “the fetus” is “removed”?

I “remove” rocks from my shoe when they get in there.

When a “fetus” is “removed” is it merely a move from one place to another (like it is when I remove a pebble from my shoe) or does something much more occur? If so, what is that “much more”?

This is the one thing that concerns me long term about closing down clinics. Crude abortions performed by unqualified people in poor hygiene.
It’s evil. It shouldn’t be safe to do. If you are choosing to murder your child, then you should have to do it in a back alley. Just like any other kind of murder. I know pro-lifers talk all the time about women be pressured into getting abortions, I think this would alleviate that. Having to sneak into the backroom of some dirty strip mall in the shady part of town is a tad different from simply walking into a clinic. Might cause some second thoughts (combined of course with the fact that there will be legal repercussions if caught).

Affordable delivery costs and universal maternity leave would also help. A lot of unborn babies mommies would have second thoughts if they knew their job was protected and wouldn’t get fired for choosing life – which is still legal to do, and not very “pro-life.”

Red herring.
However, infant mortality is defined differently in different countries.
So a high mortality does not mean what you portray it as meaning.

Website publishes dangerous self-abortion guides: No doctor needed
Steve Weatherbe

Abortion , Abortion Pill , Mifegymiso , Mifepristone , Ru-486 , Women Help Women
April 29, 2017 (LifeSiteNews) – An international group of abortion advocates has started a site to advise American women how to use RU-486 and a second medication to abort unborn children without a doctor’s prescription or supervision required by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Women Help Women describes itself as “an international group of activists, trained counselors and non-profit organizations and foundations” who “bridge the gap between reproductive rights advocacy efforts and service provision.”
The site calls that service “self-managed abortion, safe and supported.” . . .

And these guys (below) have it backwards. (It is an article from 2016, but since I just came across it, and it was relevant to this thread I thought I’d share it to get a little more insight into how many of the globalist abortion advocates think).
Repealing anti-abortion laws would save the lives of nearly 50,000 women a year – UN experts
27 September 2016 – Warning that unsafe abortions kill nearly 50,000 women each year, United Nations human rights experts today called on States across the world to repeal restrictive abortion laws and policies, and all punitive measures and discriminatory barriers to access safe reproductive health services.
“Criminalization of abortion and failure to provide adequate access to services for termination of an unwanted pregnancy are forms of discrimination based on sex,” they said in a joint statement on the eve of the Global Day of Action for Access to Safe and Legal Abortion.
“Restrictive legislation which denies access to safe abortion is one of most damaging ways of instrumentalizing women’s bodies and a grave violation of women’s human rights. . . . .
un.org/apps/news/story.asp?NewsID=55141#.WQQ2rv9Omf0

But wait. Do these people REALLY advocate extending abortion worldwide to girls too (not just “women”?)??

Fortunately they implicitly tell us in the same article . . .
We cannot tolerate the severe violation of women’s human rights on the basis of their sex and biological differences. We cannot tolerate the high incidence of women’s and girls’ preventable deaths resulting from maternity-related issues, including from unsafe abortion,” said the experts. . . .
Naturally they ignore at least one death for each “successful” abortion.

Affordable delivery costs and universal maternity leave would also help. A lot of unborn babies mommies would have second thoughts if they knew their job was protected and wouldn’t get fired for choosing life – which is still legal to do, and not very “pro-life.”
I agree.

But are you still against abortion when you say this? Or is this simply an excuse to try and justify abortion?

Even if delivery costs were the best, and maternity leave was fantastic, all perfect! Chances are, someone, somewhere, may possibly attempt a back alley abortion, that case would then be championed by some people, and used as an excuse to try and promote and advance abortion.

So calls for affordable delivery costs and maternity leave and job security, are all right and just, but abortion as an alternative to the lack of those things must be off the table,

Because if abortion is not off the table now, even with those things you mention, even with the very best, it still wont be off the table. No matter how affordable delivery costs are, abortion would still be there. No matter how good maternity leave is and job security is, abortion would still there, since wealthy women have abortions too and many women are coerced into an abortion solely because it is legal and an option.

I hope this has helped

God Bless You

Josh
