Maybe that’s true. But as with issues like the Big Bang, I don’t deal with it, as there is no way of solving it.

Also, we have some other organs and things in our body that we do not use at the current time, especially when it comes to our DNA, if you look at a normal human DNA strand, there are some crazy things in there, but they are essentially ‘turned off’…it is curious to wonder why they are even there to begin with…will they be useful at some point in the future, and an all knowing God knew to include them,or…?

Another one is the Pineal gland, this is a VERY interesting part of our body, I think in the future people will learn how to access it/ turn it on and our potential will be unlimited.

There is no unused part of our bodies; that’s an urban legend of the “10% brain” type.

Any human bodypart that truly was unused would have atrophied past easy recognition long ago, as with the palmaris and plantaris muscles in our limbs, which in many people are absent and not missed.

Even the appendix, the textbook example of a vestigial bodypart, is now recognized as having a significant role in maintaining the internal human microbiome.

As to turned-off sections of the DNA.

You are aware that we share 98% of our DNA with chimpanzees and 61% of it with the banana???

Maybe the areas that are “turned off” are so because they do not lead to the human body.

I always wondered about the Botfly and those nasty parasitic worms that grow under the skin. These parasites though seem confined to South America and much warmer climates.

There is one theory that the eye itself started from a cell which became sensitive to light. I think the point the Church has tried to make is that there is a First Cause to everything, no matter how it developed.

But we shouldn’t confuse evolution with natural and artificial selection, which is more of a known quantity.

Precisely. If the DNA that leads to a mouse’s tail remained in our bodies, it would be turned off.

The DNA is a messy result of evolution, and not a neat, crisp blueprint of the human body we know and love so well. Portions of it that would lead to fur, to a tail, or to banana leaves had to be turned off in making us who we are.

sorry if I violated a rule of the forums, I won’t do it again, but I kind of need to know the answer. Christianity and evolution can’t really coexist. The god that used evolution would be cruel and wasteful. Would Jesus really die for the sins of apes? It takes out the idea of original sin. They didn’t lie down and let other walk over then with their opposing beliefs. They fought for what was right. They were peacemakers, but if there was no other way, they fought for the Lord and we’re triumphant in their battles

I believe there is truth in Scripture. There is also truth in the things God created. The world is what it is. When we examine the world (nature), we see evidence of evolution. If it pleased God to create a universe in which evolution happens, who am I to deny it? “God moves in a mysterious way, His wonders to perform.”
