… so Christianity can’t have invented ‘witches’ because the Jews did in the OT?
Well… I suppose that’s one way to look at it!

Of course, using that same logic, the Jews also “invented” a lot of other OT described items, including miracles, angels and God Almighty!

Just because something is recorded in Scripture doesn’t mean it’s being “invented”, does it? It’s quite possible that some things get recorded because they actually happened…

At any rate, I think we can all agree that, although Christians may have had some tough times with witches/witchcraft, Christians did not invent the concept.

God Bless Us All!

You’re onto something- so Christianity can’t have invented ‘witches’ because the Jews did in the OT?
I think it possible that the first biblical reference to witchcraft is in Genesis chapter 6 when it mentions the daughters of men.

.

BTW…for any Wicca out there, the “witches” of Salem weren’t killed because of Wiccan practices. They were innocent, God-fearing puritans who were killed out of hysteria. I went to a museum in Salem and about puked when it took the experience and tied it to the long-suffering Wicca.
I don’t see where you can come up with “…long-suffering Wicca…” We are talking people who practice witchcraft. And a relatively recent form at that. Yet they can freely “practice” their “faith” in the USA.
All witchcraft is of the devil.
There is only one true GOD. There is only one true faith. It does matter what you believe. There is objective truth. It does matter what you believe. All “faiths” are not equal.
If you are a regular on this website and in these forums, then you have come to the right place but you might also read the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
I will pray that you receive the gift of faith.

That would be called sarcasm. Sorry if that didn’t come through. I’m quite fond of the Catechism and have quoted it extensively in a lot of my threads.

God Bless,

Robert.
