Wives? Do you pack a lunch for your DH every workday?

I’ve been packin’ a lunch for my DH for 23 years. Ok…every once in a great while I ask him to buy a couple of slices of pizzas or something.

Today I packed BBQ pork along with a whole wheat roll and zucchini casserole, orange and drink.

I was wondering how many other wives do the same.

My DH? Meaning? If you mean dear husband, the answer is yes.

He keeps his file drawer stocked just in case he needs something, but usually he’ll pack up his lunch himself the night before with whatever we had for dinner.

I pack his lunch sometimes. it depends. we both work in grocery stores and we live really close to where we work. so on my days off, he comes home and has luch with me. if I work late, he also comes home for lunch. but if I have to be at work, I pack him a lunch and leave it in the fridge for him, or he takes it to work. but he likes to come home and play on the computer. if he is off and I’m working, he’ll make lunch and bring it up to me. it makes all my co workders jealous too! 😃

I make something, say split pea soup with ham, and I put it in a large container, which he takes to work. Over the next few days he portions it out as he likes, heating it up in a microwave at work. Often he keeps it frozen at work until he eats it. I have no idea why, but he likes monotony. I’d go crazy eating like he does.

So I said other, since it is definitely not every day and he is in charge of portion control, not me.

My wants PB&J every day with 2 pieces of fruit and potato chips. Go figure.
I marked that I packed for the kids too. When in school I did this, now I make it at home.

I voted yes, however lately, it’s been hit and miss. LOL :o

When there are no leftovers or I haven’t been grocery shopping for all the little extras he enjoys, my DH will get something from the “roach coach” that comes to the hanger during lunch.

You are so organized to do this daily!
Twenty-three years…wow, I need to get myself in gear.

There is a top 3 list that makes my dh a happy man; homemade meals are numero uno.

Yes, every day unless he has a lunch meeting or decides he wants Quiznos or pizza, etc, which is pretty rare. He likes “lunch-y” foods though–deli meat sandwiches, soups, fruit, raw cut-up veggies, chips or pretzels, granola bar, etc. Anything I toss in is fine but rarely will he take leftovers unless it’s baked chicken or something easily re-heatable. Even then he’d rather I make it into a chicken salad sandwich or something. He has clear ideas about what is “lunch” food and what is “dinner” food. 🙂

In a sense, yes. He works just half a block away and comes home most days for lunch. Once in a while we go to a casual local place. Once in a while I’m dieting and so he gets his own lunch so as not to tempt me too much.
He is a sweetheart and I love spending time with him—even after 42 years and 5 kids! ❤️ :gopray2:

When I am low on leftovers I always have quality canned soup to crack open and put into a microwavable covered soup cup…I keep Manhattan clam chowder stocked in the pantry for those times ( his favorite). Oranges and Apples (red delicious) are easy to keep around. I also always have 3-4 different beverages to choose from. The trick is to always make a little extra at dinner time the night before and also keep his sure fire favorites in the pantry.

Tomorrow I’ll pack chicken cutlets, potatoes, stuffed artichoke and iced tea…now you know what we ate for dinner tonight.
oh yea…homemade meals are at the top of his list of things he loves…love…I love to give him a healthy hand cooked meal. I suppose twenty-three years seems like a long time but I figure when the day comes that I can’t do it for him…well… is the day I can’t do it at all…and that will be sad.

I don’t pack his lunch because he has a tendency to be picky. He will take the same thing for a week or two and then decide he is tired of that or that he just wants to go out. Because I can’t guess his moods, he gets to take care of his lunch. Besides, I am not that good of a wife 😃

When we were first married we ate lunch together in our apartment (both still in school), then he graduated, we moved and I started to pack his lunches. I always packed two sandwiches, three or four homemade cookies, two pieces of fruit, chips and a drink until he started to gain weight (my dad always ate this much and did just fine) - then he told me he would pack his own lunches and has ever since and that was 27 years ago 😉 .

He does prefer leftovers and has had co-workers jealous of his lunches because they always looked so good! When we don’t have leftovers though, he packs a sandwich and fruit or buys at the cafeteria at work. I don’t keep a lot of lunch meats in the fridge because we don’t eat that much of it, especially now the children are all grown.

Since I work and DH is a SAHD, we are reversed - he packs my lunch every day, usually leftovers from last night. YUMM

I do.
The wonderful thing I have discovered is - that all I have to do, is FEED this man - and he will do anything for me in return!
What a bargain! So, yes, 3 squares a day and I get many many great benefits! :yup:

Today hubby got:
3 peices of BBQ Chicken
A yogurt
an apple
Triscuit crackers
coffee.

I pack the kids’ lunches, but he comes home for lunch. He calls ahead, I pop whatever he wants to eat into the microwave, and it’s hot by the time he gets here. I don’t mind at all–it’s not much trouble, and he’s getting a more nutritious lunch than he would at any fast food place.

What I’d be curious to know is how many husbands pack their wives’ lunches every day!

I pack his lunch, the grandkids’ lunch, and sometimes my lunch on days he works. Otherwise, when I come home, I make sure he either has enough money or a hot meal before he goes to work. He’s a professional adjunct- in other words, a guy who makes his living being a college instructor at a BUNCH of colleges and universities. Between this, offering training seminars, and high school subbing, he never knows where he’s going to end up. A bag lunch is a good thing for him to have.

I had to put other because technically my boys pack their Dad’s lunch. At dinner I make extra food for him but my sons clean the kitchen and before they put away the food, they make certain to fill up their dad’s food containers.
