I think the OP has left.
This all boils down to the definition of Love. What is love? Love is to will the good of the other. So a father who does not let his children do something that maybe harmful to their well-being is indeed showing love. I very much doubt that a jealous husband who isolates his wife from family and friends and keeps her prisoner in the home is willing her ultimate good.I do have a question. Would a woman prefer a man who lets her do whatever she pleases because he does not jealously love her as his own–a man who is more trying to keep her at a distance because he is scared of being too involved and therefore grow possessive/jealous?
God described Himself as a jealous God but also a loving God. As far as I understand it husbands own their wives and wives own their husbands–they surrender themselves to each other.
To hit the point home, who loves you more? The dad who will not let you drink as a minor (party pooper!) or the one who lets you do whatever you want?
Just a thought. As I reflect on the saying of our jealous God.
These are also the same women who would object if their fathers also told them to dress more modestly. You know the"You can’t tell me what to do" mindset. Some woman would assume that a boyfriend/husband who suggests her to dress modestly lest she attract bad attention is treating her like chattel instead of seeing the good intention behind it.

Since a little over half the human race is female, and you can probably find some women to take just about any assumption, I am not sure what is meant to be achieved with such statements. These are also the same women who would object if their fathers also told them to dress more modestly. I was trying to cover the bases. There are women who can legitimately say that they have treated as property, such as the victims of sex trafficking and there are women who cannot. People will have different opinions on this topic.Since a little over half the human race is female, and you can probably find some women to take just about any assumption, I am not sure what is meant to be achieved with such statements.
Yes, there are women who have been treated as property, there are also men who have been treated as property; perspective of the whole situation must been kept.I was trying to cover the bases. This is what I meant to achieve with my previous statement.
