Why on earth do the reporters call it Catholic?! It’s clearly condemned by the Church, and thus is not Catholic.

She says, “Tradition is in my blood.” Alrightie then…to quote The Animaniacs, “ok lady, we’ve heard enough outta you. Bye bye!”

Narcissism wins out once again. Jesus founded a Church and apparently there are others who believe they can re-found it in their own image. The older I get the more easily do I understand that pride really does lie behind most other sins. It is a sad commentary on human nature.

Rats!

From the title of the thread and the comments I read posted to it, I thought for sure that when I clicked on the link it was going to reveal that yet another crackpot group had gone ahead and elected their own pope. Few things give me a greater laugh than modern-day antipopes.

What a disappointment to learn that it was just a matter of another gal being ordained to the “priesthood” by some schismatic heretic…not an antipope, just an “auntie pope”.

And, boy, you’ve got to love the name of their church…
The Guardian Angels Catholic Community at Community Christian Church
Wow. Why not just name it “First United Can’t Make Up Our Minds Church”.

Crimony.

Think about this… Since the first split in the Church (East vs West) there have only been two reasons for all the splits.
  1. Pride.
  2. Justification of sin.
The first split was Pride… Others like the Protestant Reformation were for the justification of sin as well as pride. >> Today is more justification of sin… Like: Our church says it’s OK to have same sex marriage… Or: Our church will allow divorced couples to remarry, whether the marriage was valid or not… And so on…

What really ‘gets my goat’ is the title of the article… *“Catholic church ordains woman as priest”. *

Someone who doesn’t bother to read the article - only the headline - will probably remember the title and it will affect the way they see the Church.

“… but the newspaper said so, so it has to be the truth!”

Sadly I know too many people who believe these little snippets and don’t bother to look further into it to actually see if it is true or not.

What the article got right is the church is small-c.

Its sad though that many new breakaway groups today still use “Catholic” in their name in an obvious attempt to confuse people. If I’m travelling to a location and want to go to Mass and I walk by this parish that has “Catholic” on the name, I would probably walk in. Of course once I realize whats going on, I’d probably be running out. But a lot of people with a lot less knowledge would probably buy the lie. They’d walk in and, “oh. A woman priest? I thought I walked into a Catholic church.” And they will respond, “yes, we are a Catholic church.”:mad:

Just pray for them. The Holy Father has said that it may be time for the Church to return to the size of a mustard seed. Let them go for now, but pray for them.

When you see things like this remember, we are one day closer to the Church being glorified.

These women are full of pride, period.

There is no logic to their thinking. Groppenbacher said that the Catholic… “tradition was in my blood.” Ringler said," But we feel we are part of the long history of the Catholic Church, and we want to carry it into the future.".

Well if I understand the words tradition, and history, then they have eleminated themselves.
When you want to be part of history and tradition, you don’t become it by changing it!

They have no leg to stand on, and I agree that the headlines of this article were misleading to say the very least.

Yes, and I feel that way about schismatics on the left and on the right incidentally. They claim the Catholic “tradition” while trampling all over it in the very essence of what they’re doing. I think of not only a liberal bishop ordaining a woman, but of, say, a Richard Williamson, who wears all the pretty vestments and follows all the high rubrics, all the while flipping the bird at the Holy See.

It isn’t traditional to ordain a woman to the priesthood, and it isn’t traditional for a bishop to ignore, disobey, and continually savage the Holy Father. I’m amazed at the number of people claiming “tradition” who have actually junked tradition, altogether.

I was watching a documentary about this last night on TV (different woman ‘priest’ though).

My thoughts on this;

1st. If you think there’s a problem IN the Church, instead of defying the Church and doing what you want… why not work tirelessly to change the Church? This is kind of like a child being told by its parent: You can’t have chocolate. And the child says; I want chocolate, I’m having chocolate and one day you’ll change your tune grabs chocolate and munches away. Instead of: Well, this is why I think chocolate is okay but I won’t have it until you change your mind because I respect you enough to trust your judgment. (simple analogy but I’m sure you get my point)

2nd. These women are NOT Catholic. Why do they even bother calling themselves Catholic when it is CLEAR they have no respect for the authority of the Church?

Why not start their own Church where they can be priests? Or better yet, why not join Churches that already allow female ministers? Why INSIST on being called Catholic when clearly they do NOT respect the Catholic Church?

ARGH. I get riled up on this one.

This seems to be a growing trend, and I am sad for them. People like this have good intentions, but their compassion is decidedly misplaced.

They claim it’s the work of the Holy Spirit (and other nonsense about Mary). It may very well be a spirit, but it’s certainly not Holy.

What gets me is this part:
Ringler said: “I am Catholic. There is something about that worth holding on to. Other groups are not the same. The Episcopalian Church comes close. But we feel we are a part of the long history of the Catholic Church, and we want to carry it into the future.”
What? You can’t have it BOTH WAYS!!! Either you want to be a part of the history of the church, or you want to go against the history of the church. What they are doing is against the history of the church!:mad::mad::mad:
