Nature is cruel. Men always want younger and more beautiful women. It seems like out shelf life only lasts for so long. Men are prophets and priests. Statistically men are more likely to leave their family and start a new one without looking back. Premarital sex has harsher consequences on women than men.

God calls us to rise above our human nature even though we are made to worry, fear, become angry, impatient. For some people the road to salvation is quite easy, others it is more difficult. God hates complaining. You should be grateful of everything you have even if you have VERY LITTLE. Some people are more successful than others.

God is harsher on his followers than others. People outside His Church can still go to heaven. Why does the truth always hurt? Why does God demand patience in a world that moves so quickly? Life seems so short though.

What does the bolded have to do with womanly weakness? Don’t men do these things too?
Also, there are women who date much younger men. Tina Turner is with a man much younger than her. Demi Moore was with a much younger man. The term is “Cougar.” So, some women want younger, more handsome men. 🤷

Now we see only an indistinct image in a mirror, but then we will be face to face. Now what I know is incomplete, but then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known.1 Corinthians 13:12

In the end it will all make sense to you.🙂

I am not sure how the poster is referring to womanly weakness. Didn’t God chose a women to bear and nurture His only son? Did, Jesus appear first to a woman after His death. Isn’t it women that were instrumental in education, mercy and hospitals and being a strong glue that binds the Church? I think if men had their druthers they would be off fighting a crusade or good little war somewhere:knight2: while some weak woman kept the home fires burning and stew in the pot. Womanly weakness…nah. :twocents:

Why not focus on the problems men cause? From 911 to ISIS to crime, some men need their butts kicked. As a guy I’ve noticed that not every man is a dumbas but every dumbas is a man. Men have a lot to answer for.

Cougars are relatively rare though while men who trade in their wives for younger newer models are relatively common.

There may be exceptions, but for men attractiveness is of prime importance when it comes to choosing wives while for women, stability is more important. So while time is cruel to women who will inevitably lose their looks, for men, time can be an ally, as they get the experience needed to be successful.

Unfair? Yes, but who said life was fair?

What’s a woman to do? A woman will do well to acknowledge that while marriage and motherhood are noble vocations, her view of her worth as a human should not depend on attracting a man but on her status as a child of God.

It is true that some men will leave their wives for a younger women, it is also true a woman will leave her husband for a younger man. I have a friend whose father left his mom for a younger lady. They cheated together. Then he left her, that is what happens.

It is a Woman who goes through the painful miracle of life. Women are not weak at all. Each sex has a strength the other does not posses. Yes there are burdens unique to both sexes that seem unfair by themselves. What would men do with our frail egos and the sense of responsibility when we become disabled or hurt. Who has to carry the weight then but a wife?

Many men, even way back when, were held accountable for their moral actions. I know I was. I came home from college with evidence on my neck that I had been involved in some sort of “hanky panky.” My mother let me have it with both barrels. I still remember it to this day. They held us all to the same standard, boys and girls.

I will pray for healing for you and whatever cross you have had to bear that prompted your thread. Take care.

My wife has never looked more beautiful and we’ve been married 33 years. She is becoming more beautiful with each passing year. I know many men who would probably tell you the same thing. We don’t want younger women. Please cool it with the broad and gross misrepresentations.

Easier said than done. A lot of people say a woman’s worth should not depend on her role as a wife and mother, then again what are woman evaluated on. As a woman, if I am not married by a certain age I have became odd. There are more family pressures on women to wed early after all my goal should be to have children. I do not have all the time in the world to decide if I want a start a family or not.

Yes, easier said than done. I do not know your age but I have come to the realization that I cannot please everyone and I know for sure that there will be always be someone who will look at me as odd. That is when I stopped caring about what other people think of me.

Like you, I am unmarried and childless, and yes, people do look at me as odd. God has given me the grace however, to realize that in the end, it is His judgement that matters, not the judgement of people I do not even know.

I will say I’m in my 20s. I still feel like my youth and beauty are passing me by. Men my age want teenagers. I guess men close for 40 want 20 year olds. Nature is crueller on women. God is there for the marginalized. I wish I did not need God at all. Many people feel happy without ever contemplating his presence. We are supposed to give all of our lives to God, yet I have never see Him ever. Grateful any good thing that happens I still have not seen Him.

Of course there are some men who ONLY want a younger woman – I mean substantially younger, 15 or mores years younger. A few years ago, I had a very dear friend (35 y.o. male) who assured me time and again that he could only be attracted to women 10 to 15 years younger than him. He even considered that maybe God’s plan was for him to marry a much younger woman, and that’s why he felt that way. Two years later married a woman who is the same age as him 😃 They are expecting their first baby soon!

I don’t know how old you are, CRATUS, but that can certainly impact how you feel…

I know that I and many of my friends were approached by much older men when we were in our 20’s. It was common enough that we discussed the phenomenon – and agreed it was creepy. They were clearly only interested in us because we were young, objectifying us, a form of lust. There were other faithful Catholic women in our parish, women who were kind and lovely, funny and intelligent, generous and strong, and in their 40’s. None of us 20-somethings found these men remotely attractive – we didn’t want to be their objects!

Oddly enough, it’s still happening to me. Sometimes I think I will only ever be attractive to men 15 to 25 years my senior! Other times, I wonder if the 65 year old man who bought me coffee at the Starbucks is the same man who asked me out when I was 25 and he was 45 :rotfl: Seriously, though, I think men who hold fast to that 20-year age difference are a tiny minority.

Most men are not like that. They notice the beauty of the young, but most of the good Catholic men I’ve known are not so overly attached to youthful beauty that they’re willing to virtually sell their souls (i.e., turn their back on God’s plan for their lives) by setting their feet in concrete and accepting no other possibility from God except what they want. I suppose there are a few, but I just pray for them and move on.

After all, if God wants me to enter the sacrament of marriage, then there’s just one man I’m looking for who is also looking for me. All the rest, for whatever reason they give, simply are not the man God has in mind for me 👍

God bless you! You will absolutely be in my prayers!

I will say that Ashton Kutcher left Demi Moore for a woman younger than he is. Bruce Willis, even though he and Moore remained friends, married a young woman and has two more daughters now. Antonio Banderas left Melanie Griffith for a younger woman. Ditto for Kelsey Grammar and Donald Trump (first wife for second). The people in Hollywood do seem to want younger and younger women, but I don’t care what Hollywood wants, and I doubt many people on this forum do, either. The “Hollywood types” probably didn’t even marry for the right reasons.

I’m not all that old yet, but I certainly don’t feel that nature is any more cruel to me than to a man. Frankly, I would not want to be a man. Men are subject to baldness so much more than women, whose hair can remain thick even in old age, men have that nasty prostate gland that can cause them a whole lot of trouble in so many ways, loss of muscle mass is more evident on men than on women (and it happens to everyone sooner or later, and the only cure is weight bearing exercise, which most people don’t like), men are more prone to heart disease and high blood pressure, which I would hate to have. All in all, I’ll take being a woman any day.

Part of what you say is true, though, I think. A friend of mine was perusing an online dating site at my home a few weeks back (I do not believe in meeting online myself). She was asking my opinion about several of the men. It seems all the men want is a young THIN woman, and all the women want is a RICH man, the richer the better. Of course, both sexes end up unhappy.

The men and women who remain faithful to their marriage partners really have my admiration for recognizing that there is so much more to life than looks and money. I see those happily married couples every time I go to mass.

I am older than you. I am glad my mother raised me and taught me not to base my self-worth on being able to attract a man. I don’t think it is healthy to do so. Society and even other Christians may tell you that but make the effort to believe otherwise. With practice it gets easier.

Malachi 2:16

“The man who hates and divorces his wife,” says the LORD, the God of Israel, “does violence to the one he should protect,” says the LORD Almighty. So be on your guard, and do not be unfaithful

Ecclesiastes 8:11

Because the sentence against an evil deed is not executed speedily, the heart of the children of man is fully set to do evil.

Colossians 3:23

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,

Job 34:22

There is no gloom or deep darkness where evildoers may hide themselves.

Romans 2:6-8New International Version (NIV)

6 God “will repay each person according to what they have done.”[a] 7 To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. 8 But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.

… much MUCH more in Scripture. Have you read the Bible? They do not call it “The Good New” for nothing.

God sees all. God will repay. Do you not believe God?

They were just examples. I didn’t say that people on here want anything. No need to be sassy. K? K.

No one’s ever called me “sassy” before. I don’t think I could REALLY be sassy. I know they were just examples. I think I’m sort of mad at Ashton Kutcher for leaving Demi Moore for Mila Kunis. Some men do seem to want much younger women, though, and a lot of women seem to want only rich men. My own cousin is one of those women, and she found a VERY RICH older man. Now he’s dead, and she’s a multimillionaire, with what she spends, she could be a billionaire. I’d consider myself well off financially if I had just what her two homes cost. I think she actually loved her late husband, though he was her third, and the only one who was rich.

It works the other way, too. Madonna is what? Close to sixty? And her boyfriend is all of twentysomething. At least I guess. I don’t keep up with celebrities. My only exposure to them is when I flip through “People” while getting my hair done.

I think this exists in women’s imaginations more than it actually does in reality.

I haven’t hit 30 yet and I think mature women (40s or even 50s) can be absolutely gorgeous, and I know for a fact I’m far, far from the only male on the planet that thinks this way. I’m allured by their confidence and their emotional maturity and their physical attractiveness carries its own charm that is different but not necessarily inferior to a younger woman. The reason you have the stereotype of men always desiring younger women is because if you go to a strip club / party house, you’re going to have young female workers. Rich and powerful men also tend to take on younger wives because that is what they value.

In other words, as a Catholic woman, the men that are only value the youth in woman are the men you wouldn’t want to date and marry anyway.
It seems like out shelf life only lasts for so long. Men are prophets and priests. Statistically men are more likely to leave their family and start a new one without looking back. Premarital sex has harsher consequences on women than men.
Premarital sex has stronger consequences in that a woman is faced with the risk of pregnancy, and after this she is faced either with aborting the child, attempting adoption, or becoming a mother, not necessarily with the help of the man. This is as much as a blessing as it is a curse, because you are better guarded from committing the sins that men perhaps are more disposed to commit. Because of their role as the generator and not the incubator of life, they have less strings attached to sex, so they can easily fall into the trap of always seeking sex and yet never discovering love.

I’m currently working on a firecrew over the summer and there are a lot of blue collar guys, ranging from their 20s to their 40s, with severed ties to their ex-girlfriend(s) that have one or several kids. “Lucky” is one of the last words I would use to describe them. Their lives sound horrible and hollow and above all empty.

edit: Also, the gift of prophecy is not linked to the apostolic priesthood.

God is harsh, but less so than any other worldly philosophy you could possibly follow. People that live in sin and ignorance are not lucky. They face problem after problem, and loneliness after loneliness. Emeritus Pope Benedict XVI views the catechism as a path to optimal happiness, not as a rulebook that strips man of her freedom. When you fear nothing, you also love nothing.
