Woman’s death at hands of ‘gay’ her fault, says lawyer

Trial begins over death of Christian who questioned homosexual lifestyle choice

…Catholic League President William Donohue said the murder is not listed as a hate crime, and won’t be, even though she “was murdered for having a Catholic-informed conscience.”

…Mary Stachowicz was attacked with such ferocity the assailant’s hunting knife blade was bent, but a defense attorney for her alleged attacker is painting her with the blame, saying it wasn’t a “hate crime” and it happened because her comments about his “gay” lifestyle assaulted the man.
And since it was only a routine murder case, not a “hate crime,” the story is getting almost no coverage from mainstream media outlets, several conservative groups have noted.
The murder trial for Nicholas Gutierrez, 23, in Stachowicz’ 2002 death has begun in Chicago, where prosecutor Jim McKay described the viciousness of the attack on the 51-year-old mother of four and faithful Catholic Church member.
She was stabbed, strangled, raped and beaten, and then her body was stuffed in a crawl space under the floor of an apartment, he reported.

Oh, this is very sad news 😦 … I pray for the mother and for the attacker to change his ways. Imagine four children without their mother.

Warmest regards,
Ben

I didn’t know that self defense against an “assault” of words could be used as an excuse for raping and killing someone. I’m no attorney, but I didn’t think words were even included under the legal definition of assault.

Sounds like we’re back to blaming the victim…

I agree with the need for prayers. If its any consolation, since she died at age 51 it is likely that her children were grown up, or at least in their teens.

There are some additional links regarding the case in this thread

After reading the cited article; These People Are Victims Too, I am appalled that I’ve not ever heard of this crime!
May Mary’s soul rest in peace.
Considering who the perp is, and that Catholics are one of the last groups to be considered ‘fair game’, I expect Mary will find justice only from God.
What happened is awful, but the silence of the media is worse.

If anyone here is familiar with the play The Laramie Project, they will know that the irony is staggering. 😦

Imagine the outcry if the roles were reversed and it was a homosexual who was killed.

O come on people. It wasnt a hate crime. She insulted his lifestyle. And that pissed him off.

You cant go around telling people there way of life is evil and perverse and not expect stuff like this.

Now i do not condone his actions. But dont try to turn this into something it isnt.

She died because her murderer hated what she believed. That sounds like a hate crime, as opposed to envy, greed, or fear.

He didnt kill her because she belived homosexuality was wrong. He killed her because she made her opinion known.

If i go to an Arab country and say “Mohammed was not a prophet, your all crazy and stupid”, theres a pretty good chance ill be getting my head choped off. Its the same thing in this situation.

Yes, and that would be a hate crime.

Doesn’t America have freedom of speech?
Yes. Yes it does. And it also has freedom of religion. So when people go around trying to push there beleifs on a group of people, it will piss said people off. If you cant handle the consequences, stop pushing your agenda on these people. Otherwise, dont say anything when stuff like this happens. Especially considering there are people who go around blowing up abortion clinics and countless scandless from within the church.

My advice: Fix yourselfs before trying to “fix” others. Better yet, let people live thier lives they see fit. If your right and they end up in a burning lake of fire, then thats on them.

I’m happy to let the sins of others by judged by God, rather than myself. However, would you consider the destruction of abortion clinics as hate-crimes? I would. Now if you do, why wouldn’t you consider this torture-rape-murder as a hate-crime? That’s a bit of a double standard, if you don’t…

Man can never perfectly “fix” himself. The Catholic proposition is to follow the teachings sincerely. True Christian charity demands fraternal correction. We are to be concerned with saving souls. To love God we must love others and care about their soul.

The truth with love

not

Love without truth
or
Truth without love.

What torture and rape? There was no torture and rape.

She insulted his lifestyle and that pissed him off. He lost control of himself and killed her. If she had never insulted him, she would still be alive. This is NOT a hate crime. A hate crime would be if he killed her SPECIFICALLY for being a christian.Which he did not. He killed her because she insulted him. This wasn’t even premeditated. It was spur of the moment.

You must be naive to think that!

I might make a remark about the actions or the behavior of a person in close proximity to me but that does not mean he or she would have the right to kill me…or would it in your eyes?

“…don’t try to turn this into something it isn’t”. Ok, what is it then if not hate murder and his reaction of hate and brutality? Her words do not justify his beating, raping, brutalizing and killing another human being no matter what she said.

This seems to be another example of justified hate by gays. Gay excuses for their actions is ok but no one can say anything they might find offensive or even a slight.

You do condone his actions simply by excusing them. And please read the law and the meaning of what is and is not a hate crime.

I expect just that from the ACLU since most in that org. are either homosexual or sympathizers.
