Yes. It would have been. He seeked you out just to insult your beleifs. Infact, had i been in your shoes, i probably would have poped him right in the jaw.

Still, if I had responded violently then I would have gone to jail and would have deserved my punishment. Part of a civilized society is that we control ourselves around jerks.
Really, as far as the original case goes…men are generally stronger then women, especially those women over fifty. His response to the lady was not just a person loosing their temper. It showed hatred for the individual.
A person who temporarily looses control, might strike another person but this attack sounds horrific and over the top in it brutality. This isn’t the kind of act that occurs when someone has a quick, sudden moment of anger. This attack, combined with the perpetrators obvious desire-through rape-to humiliate his victim showed hatred for this particular woman.
