Point being why would you go to the priest and not straight to the Bishop?Point being?

Solve the problem at the lowest possible level.Point being why would you go to the priest and not straight to the Bishop?
Because the first question the bishop’s office is probably going to ask is, “Have you talked with Fr. so-and-so?”Point being why would you go to the priest and not straight to the Bishop?
Really? I’ve only seen adult servers at every parish I have been to except for the FSSP Parish, which has teen and younger servers..
I learned last weekend that it is not forbidden to have adult altar servers rather than young males. Maybe this was what you observed?
No. There is no such thing as a female deacon. From some quick research, it seems that it is possible that Eastern Churches may have female deacons. Not being from an Eastern rite I can’t be sure but that could be a possible explanation. If not, I am not sure.
The Eastern Churches have deaconess, which are NOT female deacons. It is a title generally given to what would be the Mother Superior of a convent that assists with the poor. From some quick research, it seems that it is possible that Eastern Churches may have female deacons. .
I have already been corrected, as I said in my post I was not sure, obviously the source I read was poorly worded. The Eastern Churches have deaconess, which are NOT female deacons. It is a title generally given to what would be the Mother Superior of a convent that assists with the poor.
I must admit to being nosy about these things, so I got on Google Maps to try locating the problem parish. No success yet, though it looks like you are very close to a number of great parishes. I remember when I had to do my search for a college parish, and I wish that I had had such great options out in Stockton, CA!ah, discovered so soon!
Yes, I go to Wayne State.
St. Josaphat is next on the list.
and the parish in question in this thread is to the Northeast of campus.
Your first thought would be correct…if the women were wearing stoles, which are vestments proper to clergy, that is a serious abuse.Hello all (from a first-timer)!
Well, I’m currently a Catholic without a home. I’m a college student, and was attending mass in the Newman center until we got a new priest who, well, seems incapable of delivering an inspiring or terribly relevant homily. Being where I am, a major city, I’ve decided to start looking at new churches around the campus.
My first attempt at this was last weekend, and one thing I found highly unusual was the role played by two women. I would normally have thought them Deacons (they wore stoles), yet obviously women are not deacons in the RCC (at least as far as I know).
These women processed with the priest, sprinkled the water over the congregation, and assisted with the elevation (though not the blessing) of the extra chalices.
My first thought would have been a fairly blatant liturgical abuse, but I defer to some of the more knowledgeable Catholics here.
side note - tomorrow will be my first experience in-person with the latin tridentine mass. Jumping from one extreme to the other…
and should be made known to the bishop, and if no action taken, to Rome. It’s your duty as a catholic.Your first thought would be correct…if the women were wearing stoles, which are vestments proper to clergy, that is a serious abuse.

Indeed. If being the most important word…

The OP said they were wearing stoles. You really don’t think that kind of thing goes on? The suspicion is a bit insulting, don’t you think?Indeed.
