From the article:

A marksman with a shotgun has been hunting the deer because of an increase in the number of car accidents and near misses with the animals on local roads. The deer meat has been used to stock a food pantry.

Thanks. 👍

I though in refrence to the fact that they could be out protesting for HUMAN life dignity.
Either way…their protest is disgusting.

Yeah, their disgusting protest is like the pharisees saying, “Look at my faith, aren’t I cute?”

As someone that had a deer broadside my car ($4000 in damage and a dead deer) it has come to the point that the deer are just to populous for safety.

These women would have spent their time more productively if they had chained themselves to an abortion center.

Maybe these women should do some community service at a food pantry and a body shop.

wait, a ‘marksman’ with a shotgun? Isn’t the whole point of those that you don’t have to do much more than point the thing away from yourself and pull?

Actually, you do need good markmanship skills to hit the target (in this cas a deer) with a shotgun.

For example it is very challenging to hit a target at 50 yards using a 12 gauge shotgun with rifled slug. If using a sabot slug with a fully rifled barrel the marksman (depending on his or her skill level) could have good accuracy at 100yards.

Regarding buck shot, A 12 Ga with 2 3/4 inch shell and 00 buckshot contains typically 12 to 16 individual shot. Thus, you really do have to aim in order to hit your target. It is a good idea to think of your shotgun as a rifle, so aim.

For prcatice on a moving target I suggest finding a public range with sporting clays. Try for yourself to see how easy or how challenging using a shotgun is.

You can find out more about safe gun handling and good marksmanship at the NRA web site.

Also look up you local shooting range in the yellow pages.

Hunting with rifles is only allowed in a couple counties here in NY because even the rural counties are too populated to allow it. When you fire a rifle, if you don’t hit what you’re aiming at the bullet just keeps going, and going, perhaps hitting someone (or someone’s cow) more than a mile away. Shotgun slugs don’t travel anywhere near as far.

The problem is that suburbs are spreading over every acre of woods and farmland (deer habitat) in the state. The answer is obviously to cull the suburban population.

No. A shotgun requires just as much skill as a rifle, albeit in a different manner of expression.

Shotguns are used for deer hunting in populated areas because of their short range. Modern deer-hunting shotguns have rifled barrels, mount scope sights and are remarkably accurate – albeit short-ranged.

“We’re appealing to members of the diocese who respect God’s teachings of love and compassion of all creatures to halt the inhumane deer killing,” Deirdre Guelke, a Hunter College student from Queens, said in a statement before her arrest.
Wait, wait----let me guess: white, liberal, upper-middle class, politically correct, and approximately 21 years old, right?

dingdingdingdingdingdingding!!! We have a winner!

I don’t see why they arrested them. Let them stay chained to the door. By morning, they’ll know what it’s like to be out in the deer woods, sitting still, at O-Dark Thirty in the morning when the temperature is around zero degrees.😃

I still don’t get the reference to the pharisees and scribes.

I bet they don’t get prosecuted under federal laws or see jailtime.

Now let them try that at an abortion clinic and what is the legal penalty??? Why the difference? Something to ponder.

Right! An add to that that the penalties should be reversed! After all what is more important, a human life or that of an animal?

They have obviously never had venison sausage or freshly pan-fried back-straps in butter with onions!

Well, the two women made the news. What more could two people like them ask for?

Perfect!

They might learn a lesson of humility as they unchain themselves and skulk off home. If it were my local Church I’d ask them if they were interested in attending the Church fundraiser barbeque or perhaps offer them some warming venison soup?
