Oh, “Call to Action”, not “Chicago Transit Authority”. Was confused for a second. :rotfl:
Sorry!😃
Not to worry someone in another post wrote PMS ( meaning Pre Matital Sex)
I thought they meant they were PMSing! aand the post made no sense.😃

I have to give Martin Luther credit, he went out and started his own church. I don’t agree with him but I like what he did better than what these women are trying to do. Why don’t they just leave and start their own church and see how many people follow them? I would bet there would be at least 200 or 300.

It seems to me they don’t really want to “serve the people of God” as they claim, they want to be in control. If they REALLY wanted to serve, they just would.
Also, they don’t want to start their own church because that would mean they failed to change THE CHURCH. I mean if you can get the Magesterium to admit they have taught wrongly all this time about this issue then everything is up for grabs.

Exacly! On this subject I am a chatechist for 5 th graders, last night when we had class the woman who runs the chatechist education program and has for years came into the class .
Asking the kids several question ( which she always does and is a good thing) she got on the subject of Priests and how right now woman can’t be priests but that could change if we ever get a liberal Pope. I was stunned and speachless, she said Pope Benedict won’t because he is not liberal but it could happen some day we will have women priests. I am still kind of stunned and was thinking there coulc be lots of children who are being taught this.😦

I would suggest you inform your pastor. If that goes nowhere, then to the bishop.

I thought maybe I would speak to her first and ask her why she is teaching that to the children.

If she is teaching this, she has an agenda. This has nothing to do with the liberality or conservatism of the pope. Pope John Paul II said why and the case is closed. I would go straight to the pastor.

OK and thank you!

Unfortunately, I have heard this “teaching” before from priests…that somehow there is flexibility in Christ’s teaching and that it was all based on the times He was in.
This thought process fails to take into account that God’s laws don’t change with the times…the times should change to conform to God’s laws.
In most modern societies today there is a mentality that desire should trump any impediment and that desire is elevated to a right. So if I want to be a priest, then just because I desire it, any impediment to me attaining my desire is blocking my right to it and must be removed. We are a world in bondage to our desires. If we do not desire the responsibility of parenthood, change the law or society’s perceptions so I can kill my unborn child. If I desire “marriage” outside of what God blesses as marrriage, change the law or society’s perceptions so I can have what I want. It goes on and on.

So I don’t think they really give a damn about the ministry of the priesthood, they just want to see a woman at the altar and that about all sums up their appreciation of the Catholic faith and its morality.
These women are really representative today of our modern society of individualism, relativism and secularism. They have embraced the worlds view of success, and full of self love and pride, will be satisfied with nothing less than the priesthood.
it really gets me that these women do have an option if they feel called to serve the Church directly. however it almost seems as if they think it is beneath them to be anything but a priest so they dismiss it. i wonder how many of these women were actually called to holy life but have ignored it because they couldnt do it their way.
Whatever happened to the virtues of HUMILITY, charity, obedience and faithfulness? The women honored by GOD and the Church are full of these qualities and our Blessed Mother herself, the humblest of creatures. How sad!

Those who promote the argument that all are equal and all should be ordained irrespective of whether one is a man or woman, fail to understand that ordained priesthood is to imitate Christ in a more spectacular way. Actually all are partaking in the priesthood of Christ, whether man or woman. But Jesus chose only the men flock to follow him in a spectacular way. Hence it is prudent to stick to the practice of ordaining only men to preside in the assemblies.Let the women imitate Mary, the ever virgin mother of God, and try to nurture and promote Christ in the ordained priests and not try to get ordained themselves, particularly since the same is not commissioned by Jesus. Actually people earn for the authority not for service but for previlege. The man and woman are equal before God, but their roles on this earth are different, though equally important. Let each try to do their jobs faithfully.

What almost all fail to realize is that for those ordained, because of the graces that come with Holy Orders, we are judged on a different standard and scale than those who do not have the indelible mark and graces of this sacrament. It is summed up with the phrase, “Those to whom much is given, much is expected.” This is why when going to confession, one who has received Holy Orders must tell the priest hearing his confession whether he is a deacon (marrried, single or widowed) a priest or a bishop; as culpability is greater for sin for those with Holy Orders. This is one reason you always hear us saying, pray for me/us.

All ‘opinions’ cannot be equal due to the simple fact that someone is right and someone is wrong. Children should not say, “Well, mom, that’s just your opinion.” In order to have rules, there must be standards and those standards should not be violated, or obscured.

If some people choose the gray, then they will be more inclined to accept a bad argument or opinion. In fact, some will stop thinking for themselves, simply accepting the most forceful sounding “opinion.”

Know what the Church teaches, understand it and speak the truth always.

God bless,
Ed

If women are ordained the the Priesthood I will be heading down to the local Orthodox Church.

I believe the Popes have written extensively on this and it is their belief that is not in their power to ordain women.

Although they seem not to realize it, they have a Protestant notion of ministry, and think that the difference between laity and priesthood is simply a matter of function. There are , of course, few functions that a male priest can perform that a woman cannot. Anyone can mimic what the priests does at mass, can dress in his clothes and even deliver sermons. But a woman cannot BE what a man can be, anymore than a woman in the time of David could be a priest. The law of Moses did not allow it; the law of charity does not allow it.

Oh, there’s no need to plan an outing at all 🙂 .

It is more than their “belief.” As infallible teachers of the faith, they have declared that it is an attribute of the Sacrament of Holy Orders that it is to be received by men (as in the Latin, “vir”). This is where people who act as if the issue is open to discussion make an error. It isn’t.

As Dr. Peter Kreeft put it, the question is not whether or not the Church will have women priests. She won’t. The only question is whether those who favour women priests will have the Church.

But you are correct in noting that the teaching is that the Church has no power to ordain women. The reason is the nature of the Sacrament as the Church received it.

Blessings,

Gerry

Isn’t it odd that whatever God makes the world(satan) mimics or mocks and tries to conform to the world’s image instead of God’s?

For example, the Sacraments.

God made marriage between one man and one woman. The world wants any other variation besides that - same sex, multiple partners etc…

God gave us His Son in the Eucharist to feed us. The world goes out of it’s way to desecrate and mock this, although if they really believe it’s “just a cracker” why do they bother? Instead the world offers gluttony, greed, and other sins to fill up that chasm inside.

God gave us Holy Orders, which is Him calling whom He pleases. The world says anybody should be able to be a priest-regardless of the plan God gave us for this sacrament. People who claim to be “called” but do not abide by God’s plan are just calling themselves.

God gave us Reconciliation to heal our wounds and reunite us with Him. The world gives us psychiatrists (I’m not saying they can’t have a purpose) and Jerry Springer to spill our secrets to.

God gave us Baptism to bring us into The Church and cleanse us from original sin. The world gives us baby showers so we can “get more stuff”.

God gives us Confirmation to complete our initiation into The Church and mark some level of spiritual maturity. The world has drinking parties or sexual abandon when kids “come of age”.

God gives us Anointing of the Sick to ease the spirit when we are ill or leaving this world for the next. The world has euthanasia to get you out of the way as soon as possible.

This is a very good and very insightful analogy. I have printed it out and will use it in some upcoming advent talks I will be doing. Thank you.
