Women priest 'ordinations' cause disunity, says Florida diocese [CNA]

Venice, Fla., Feb 5, 2010 / 07:24 am (CNA).- The group Roman Catholic Womenpriests recently announced that they are “ordaining” two female “priests” and one “deacon” in an upcoming ceremony in Sarasota, Florida. The Diocese of Venice issued a statement on Thursday denouncing the “ordinations” and saying that the group’s attempt “brings division and fractures unity in the Church.”

In a recent press release, Roman Catholic Womenpriests (RCW) announced that “On Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 3:00pm Dena O’Callaghan of Ocala, Florida and Katy Zatsick of Lexington, Kentucky will be ordained priests. Mary Ellen Sheehan of Tucker, Georgia will be ordained a deacon. The presiding bishop will be Bridget Mary Meehan.”

Explaining the group’s purported mission, the press release stated that “Roman Catholic Womenpriests advocate a new model of priestly ministry united with the people with whom we minister. We stand in prophetic obedience to Jesus who calls women and men to be disciples and equals.”

The Catholic Church does not ordain women. What exactly is this?

I wish that the church could protect the titles Catholic, Roman Catholic and so on from unauthorized use.

The fact that people who support this are automatically excommunicated is something I think the people who attend this kind of a service need to reflect upon. The bishop was pretty clear in his statement

What a shameful act…they claim to be Catholic but ignore the rules…they even say “The Ordinations will be Valid” since we have a validly ordained bishop…who should get excommunicated if he hasn’t already…but I guess these ladies don’t even know the rules of the Church they are splitting from. They openly reject Canon 1024, and conveniently forget that in order for a valid Sacrament to take place, it requires proper matter and form…and I have news for them, they aren’t proper matter. How sad that their own selfish ambitions have led them to this…woe to them if they lead any faithful down the road to perdition along with themselves.

I am going to call them and ask them that since they have found a way to cirmcumvent canon law and valid matter no longer is a factor…I will ask them ordain my Bloodhound DJ…it would be nice to have a priest around the house for whenever I need the sacraments

The best thing we can do is ignore them. Giving them publicity empowers them and advances their satanic cause. We know they are not priests, and I suspect that deep in the hearts of these women, they know that too.

This may be one fringe group, but has anyone else noticed lately that all the dissident groups purport women’s ordination? One of the guest speakers in the Catholic Social Ministry gathering going on this weekend (which is sponsored by the USCCB) is a theologian who touts loud and clear for women’s ordination. I truly believe this is Satan’s basic plan to dismantle the Church! Proud hearts, who feel they’ve been unjustly treated by Tradition, would love to cooperate with that evil which will attempt to break the Apostolic chain and destroy the hierarchical Church as founded by our Lord. …we know who wins in the end!

We declare that the Church has no authority whatsoever to confer priestly ordination on women and that this judgment is to be definitively held by all the Church’s faithful.”

The contents of Ordinatio Sacerdotalis are considered infallible under the ordinary magisterium, as this doctrine has been held consistently by the Church. In a responsum ad dubium (reply to a doubt) explicitly approved by Pope John Paul II and dated October 1995, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith stated that the teaching of Ordinatio Sacerdotalis had been “set forth infallibly by the ordinary and universal Magisterium” and accordingly was "to be held definitively, as belonging to the deposit of faith".

In other words, an all-male priesthood is an infallible dogma of the Roman Catholic Church and this can NEVER be changed or derrogated by any future Pope or bishop(s) for all time.

It is important to mention however, that the Church’s Magisterium also teaches that women and men are of equal dignity and value but with different roles to play for the greater Glory of God and His Church. Equalness is not sameness.

i believe we are going through a final test of the last days. we will follow the Pope wherever he is. i am not worried about split or schism. if it is to clean up the Church so be it. Long live the King.

There is an open mic night on 2-16-10 in lakewood Oh. @ 7pm-9pm @Sweetwater Landing 1500scenic Park Dr. Lakewood Oh. Will be full of priests, nuns and laypeople in open dissent of papal authority. I plan to attend and would like suggestions on how to help these people see how wrong they are.They are trying to recruit young people in our Catholic high schools and colleges?

The Catholic Church teaches that the Holy Spirit reveals God’s truth through Sacred Scripture, Sacred Tradition and the Magisterium. Any “catholic” that is in open dissent of the Magisterium is not really a Catholic. In their arrogance and pride they believe that they can “form their own conscience” and do whatever they want. This is not real Catholicism in any way, shape, or form. In fact, it is the same mistake made by historical figures like Martin Luther, King Henry VIII, etc. Authentic Catholics are humble and are obedient to the Magisterium because it has received the teaching authority directly from Jesus Christ our Lord. I absolutely love the way that St. Ignatius of Loyola expresses this absolute and complete loyalty to the Church:

To feel with the Church implies rejecting sectarianism. There must be a disposition in the mind and the heart of the baptized which is always willing to follow the one who Jesus Christ himself put as head of his Church, that is, St. Peter and his successors (Vicarius Christi). So says the first rule of the Spiritual Exercises, “All judgment laid aside, we ought to have our mind ready and prompt to obey, in all, the true Spouse of Christ our Lord, which is our holy Mother the Church Hierarchical.”

In the thirteenth rule of the Spiritual Exercises St. Ignatius says it in a most beautiful way, because it is an exaggeration, but St. Ignatius uses a hyperbole precisely to reveal the force of this principle: **“To be right in everything, we ought always to hold that the white which I see, is black, if the Hierarchical Church so decides it” **Consider this: I see the wall as white but the Magisterium of the Church tells me it is black: it is black! And St. Ignatius gives the reason for this: “believing that between Christ our Lord, the Bridegroom, and the Church, His Bride, there is the same Spirit which governs and directs us for the salvation of our souls; because by the same Spirit and our Lord Who gave the ten Commandments, our holy Mother the Roman Catholic Church is directed and governed.”
