Maybe 100 years ago. But nowadays, pants for women and pants for men are pretty distinct. There’s whole separate sections in clothing departments for them, so there’s obviously a difference.

ETA:

And besides, there’s more to an outfit than just what covers your legs. Women wear other things that distinguish them from men, even if their pants look the same. If you’re wearing a cute blouse with a necklace and also jeans, you’re not going to be mistaken for a man.

I agree - it’s about accepting and glorying in femininity as well as dressing modesty.
 
The Catholic Church is **Not **“sola skirtura” – like some fundamentalist protestant cults.

How did ‘modesty’ come into this? Celebrate feminity with frilly dresses down to your ankles if you want but the Church does not say women wearing trousers, is wrong.
