Is it not true that over the course of US History there have been several occasions where a person was proposed to fill a Supreme Court vacancy during the last months of an incumbent president? And that in addition, those proposed actually wound up being confirmed?

Depending on the election results, this may be the last confirmation for quite some time. Just sayin.

No, it really is not true of the modern presidency.

SandracDay O’Connor was confirmed in 32 days and there are several more that were confined swiftly as well

Why does everyone not realize that the reason Trump got to nominate Gorsuch and so many judges to the federal bench is that McConnell held up Obama’s nominees and did not move expeditiously to have them seated? McConnell knows how to play naked partisanship.

Women’s March coming up? Looking to attend? Be sure and follow the signs…

Maybe a Mitch knows how to beat the Dems at their own game. You know darn well the Dems would seize this opportunity if they were in this position.Besides if their plan to cheat their way into control comes to fruition, they will be able to nominate a few scotus’ in due time.

I guess everybody has decided COVID is not an issue. Since it’s a protest and all, everybody’s immune. Break out the pink P-masks!

I’m sure the hoteliers of DC will be happy to get some business during a bad year.

Franklin Graham is having a prayer march this weekend in D.C.

I hope I heard that correctly. I hope the weather cooperates and they have a good turn out. There will be no speeches - just a march.

Why are the women marching if there is a good chance another woman will be nominated?

Because it might be the “wrong kind of woman”. You know, one with the individualism to (gasp) disagree with them.

All I know is, I didn’t assert my independence from men just so a bunch of women could tell me what to do and how to think instead.

Groups of anything are prone to groupthink. Some people are very vulnerable to it because they have a great desire to be part of the group, or don’t feel strong enough to just have their own ideas, whether or not they choose to express them. I’m really not big on groups, any groups. If I do join them I always end up being a little out of step.

Scalia died in February 2016,

Almost an entire year before the election.

It was ok to keep the seat open that long then.

It is the Principle of the Matter.
And what is the principle of the matter?

So they are protesting the appointment of a woman? That’s not very feminist. Watch all the anti-Catholic bigots come out if the appointment is Amy Barret. You will see what the women’s March and feminism is TRULY about.
I imagine they are protesting the appointment of a rightist judge not necessarily the appointment of a woman.
