I find it interesting on how they are going to bus in all these women during Covid 19 . They would all be in a tightly closed area for many, many hours,

First, I’ll say it: I blame RBG herself for the current state of affairs. She should have retired while Obama was president and there was a Democrat majority in the Senate. Then the Democrats would not be in this fix now. This is what soccer fans would call an “own goal”. But RBG was too closely allied with Hillary and too blind to the possibility that Hillary the presidential candidate could fail. And fail Hillary did. Own goal, indeed.

Second, this is for certain particular posters who don’t believe precedent exists or who believe that precedent has been violated. I’ll repost this excellent historical recap of previous presidential nominations in election years that supports both 2016 and today. To summarize, when the president and the Senate majority are the same party, only once has a nomination failed. So there is plenty of precedent for Trump to nominate and the Senate to confirm. But when they are in opposite parties, it’s rare for nominations to be confirmed and that too represents precedent for what happened in 2016. Nothing new here, folks, it’s all politics.

Quotes from the article (emphasis mine):
Twenty-two of the 44 men to hold the office faced this situation, and all twenty-two made the decision to send up a nomination, whether or not they had the votes in the Senate.
The bottom line: If a president and the Senate agree on a Supreme Court nominee, timing has never stopped them. By tradition, only when the voters have elected a president and a Senate majority from different parties has the fact of a looming presidential election mattered. When there is no dispute between the branches, there is no need to ask the voters to resolve one.

Agreed. I was fond of RBG and am grateful for the many things she helped push forward, but it was irresponsible not to retire at the start of Obama’s second term.

RBG thought she would be able to will herself to survive u til after the election.
May she Rest In Peace. It seems God had other plans for her

She also seemed to think she could will her seat, if reports are to be believed.
I actually think she knew better. She was Intellectually brilliant.

The Democrats have not played their cards well with SC nominations since JFK.
