On Thanksgiving weekend 2007, the sacristy of our church was broken into and a blow torch was used to cut into the safe and steal the collections.

In mid December 2007, a lawn sprinkler control box outside our church was set on fire, the face on the statue of Mary was spray painted black, a black strip was spray painted across Jesus’ abdomen and “Murderer” was spray painted in black on the side of the church.

Last week, someone entered our church, knocked over a statue of St. Joseph and took his staff.

On Monday, the outside statue of Mary was knocked over and badly damaged and someone entered our church and knocked over a Sheppard that is part of the nativity scene and broke off it’s head.

I am so sorry to read this…I hope you get some cameras installed so you can catch these people if they attempt anything else

I wonder why your church is being targetted. Maybe someone had a bad experience and they’re taking it out on your church?

DON’T YOU THINK IT IS ABOUT TIME TO TAKE UP A SPECIAL COLLECTION FOR AN ALARM SYSTEM AND OUTSIDE CAMERAS?

Of course the security cameras are a good Idea, but I think an even better one is to institute a devotion at the Church for the souls of these individuals.
Prayers offered for the tortured souls of these individuals, a procession around the Church, 28 hours of devotion before the blessed sacrament (with at least two people present at all times) etc. You could even post signs asking the person/people to come in to talk about what is bothering them - no questions asked and no turning them over to the cops.
These are just ideas that might, not only stop the destruction, but save one or more souls AND display prominately our Christian desire for conversion and not vengance.

Peace
James

ditto. that is a beautiful idea, and a wholly Christian one.

Sounds like you must be doing something right.
Is your church active in pro-life or Proposition 8?
