In what sense Christians say, Jesus (pbuh) is the word of God?
In the biblical sense. In what sense Christians say, Jesus (pbuh) is the word of God?
p.s. We Christians do not say “pbuh.” I don’t even know if most of us know how that would be pronounced.1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God; 3 all things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
Pbuh is short for ‘‘Peace be upon him’’. It isn’t a word. But you are right, it is illogical to wish peace upon the source of all peace. In the biblical sense.
The Gospel of St. John

A better one for Christians would be (THBPHAGNAFA). Which is - To Him be Praise, Honor, and Glory, Now and Forever. Amen. But to constantly refer to Jesus in this way would be like the boastful pharisee. Besides, it’s far too long.Pbuh is short for ‘‘Peace be upon him’’. It isn’t a word. Wow…quite a mouthful there. I think it would take me longer to get the letters out in the correct order than say the sentenceA better one for Christians would be (THBPHAGNAFA). Which is - To Him be Praise, Honor, and Glory, Now and Forever. Amen. But to constantly refer to Jesus in this way would be like the boastful pharisee. Besides, it’s far too long.![]()
Hi Khalfan,In what sense Christians say, Jesus (pbuh) is the word of God?
Right, Charlie; but not just by what He speaks, but by Who He IS.Hi Khalfan,
I guess it means that Jesus reveals to us the full message of God. :twocents: . . .
I’ll try to give a short answer. In what sense Christians say, Jesus (pbuh) is the word of God?
In the biblical sense.
The Gospel of St. John
Hi Khalfan,
I guess it means that Jesus reveals to us the full message of God. :twocents:
Right, Charlie; but not just by what He speaks, but by Who He IS.![]()
Do you mean whatever God spoke, was revealing Jesus (pbuh)?Over in the first chapter of Hebrews, the Bible reads that God spoke in times past in many ways, by many prophets. However, in our current age He has spoken to us by and through His Son, Who is the “express image of His Person.”
So if one wants to know Who God is, one should look at Jesus. Jesus reveals Who God is, being fully God and fully human. He is in that sense the Word----the Logos, the revelation of God, the express image of God—made flesh.
But God was supposed to say the real name of Jesus (pbuh), ESUA or ESA. Right?I’ll try to give a short answer.
Jesus, as part of the Holy Trinity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit has existed from all eternity. When God created the universe, he spoke a word, and that word was “Jesus.”
Through Jesus, all that is came to be, and through Jesus, all creation is held together in being.
So the word “Jesus” includes everything that makes the universe work, like the physical laws of gravity, electricity, etc. The word Jesus also includes all the moral laws that hold the universe together. As the Word of God, these Laws give us an incomplete image of the invisible God.
Num 31:7 And they warred against the Midianites, as the LORD commanded Moses; and they slew all the males.Throughout time, mankind has received revelations about the Law (the moral Word of God).
First through our consciences, secondly through the 10 commandments and book of Deuteronomy, then the wisdom books of the bible, and finally in the Person of Jesus himself, who by becoming man brought the moral law (Word) to mankind in a final revelation through his actions and teachings.
Were all that ‘words of God’, whatever Jesus (pbuh) spoke in his life time? Supposed to be Yes, right, if he was word of God in human form? This is a deep subject![]()
Exactly how God “said” the Word = Jesus is irrelevant. “Jesus” is our word for the second person of the Trinity who became man. It is pronounced differently in different languages. However God spoke the Word, he was speaking of Jesus, even if the name was not spoken literally (does God actually have a mouth? Did God speak by activating air molecules for someone to hear?)But God was supposed to say the real name of Jesus (pbuh), ESUA or ESA. Right?
Not even ‘Esua’ but ‘IMMANUAL’. The name that God chosen for Jesus (pbuh). Right?
OK. I can agree that.Exactly how God “said” the Word = Jesus is irrelevant. “Jesus” is our word for the second person of the Trinity who became man. It is pronounced differently in different languages. However God spoke the Word, he was speaking of Jesus, even if the name was not spoken literally (does God actually have a mouth? Did God speak by activating air molecules for someone to hear?)
Do you think, whatever God spoke to Moses (pbuh) or to any other prophets in OT, was Jesus (pbuh) getting revealed, since Jesus (pbuh) is word of God?Also, in response to another of your comments, the Law of Moses included “concessions” which were not part of God’s will. Divorce, for example. Jesus corrected that concession. So everything said by Moses and other prophets were sometimes clarified by Jesus, since Jesus knew exactly what the Law should be.

Yes, quite literally.Do you think, whatever God spoke to Moses (pbuh) or to any other prophets in OT, was Jesus (pbuh) getting revealed, since Jesus (pbuh) is word of God?
usccb.org/nab/bible/luke/luke24.htmNow that very day two of them were going to a village seven miles from Jerusalem called Emmaus, and they were conversing about all the things that had occurred.
And it happened that while they were conversing and debating, Jesus himself drew near and walked with them, but their eyes were prevented from recognizing him. He asked them, “What are you discussing as you walk along?” They stopped, looking downcast.
One of them, named Cleopas, said to him in reply, “Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not know of the things that have taken place there in these days?” And he replied to them, “What sort of things?” They said to him, "The things that happened to Jesus the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, how our chief priests and rulers both handed him over to a sentence of death and crucified him.
But we were hoping that he would be the one to redeem Israel; and besides all this, it is now the third day since this took place. Some women from our group, however, have astounded us: they were at the tomb early in the morning and did not find his body; they came back and reported that they had indeed seen a vision of angels who announced that he was alive. Then some of those with us went to the tomb and found things just as the women had described, but him they did not see."
And he said to them, “Oh, how foolish you are! How slow of heart to believe all that the prophets spoke! Was it not necessary that the Messiah should suffer these things and enter into his glory?” Then beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them what referred to him in all the scriptures.
As they approached the village to which they were going, he gave the impression that he was going on farther. But they urged him, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening and the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them. And it happened that, while he was with them at table, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them.
With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him, but he vanished from their sight. **Then they said to each other, “Were not our hearts burning (within us) while he spoke to us on the way and opened the scriptures to us?” **
Num 31:7 And they warred against the Midianites, as the LORD commanded Moses; and they slew all the males.Yes, quite literally.
In the Gospel of Luke we find the story of the followers travelling on the road to Emmaus. The story occurs after Jesus’ resurrection.

Can you summerise it? I didn’t understand anything.Read my signature below and click on the blue underlined link.
Moses and the other prophets said many things in the OT. A small percentage of these things related to Jesus. Most did not. It is only looking back, after the coming of Jesus that those few things can be seen as relating to Jesus.Num 31:7 And they warred against the Midianites, as the LORD commanded Moses; and they slew all the males.
31:17 Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.
31:18 But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.
Was it Jesus (pbuh) getting revealed through the command to Moses?
Jesus (pbuh) is the word of God, right? Now, what I am asking is, there are many words that God spoke to Moses (like it is in Num 31) and to many other prophets in OT. Was that Jesus (pbuh) getting revealed?Moses and the other prophets said many things in the OT. A small percentage of these things related to Jesus. Most did not. It is only looking back, after the coming of Jesus that those few things can be seen as relating to Jesus.
Which quote?Perhaps the quotes above refer to the revelation of the coming of Muhammad…does the Quran say anything about that?
In a way, yes. After all, the Fullness of Divine Revelation is wound up in his Person. Was it Jesus (pbuh) getting revealed through the command to Moses?
‘IMMANUAL’ is not a name, but rather a title. It’s kind of like referring to George W. Bush as ‘Mr President’; ‘Mr President’ is not his name.… Not even ‘Esua’ but ‘IMMANUAL’. The name that God chosen for Jesus (pbuh). Right?
Num 31:7 And they warred against the Midianites, as the LORD commanded Moses; and they slew all the males.

Very good. Now you are starting to see the wrath of God from our sins. Was it Jesus (pbuh) getting revealed through the command to Moses? …
