Speaking as a non-veilerā
Perhaps itās not as much of an issue as you think? The orthodox-magnet parish near my house has a higher percentage of veiling women then normal, but still probably in the 5-10% range at most. At other parishes in the area, maybe none at all cover their heads, or maybe just a handful, depending on the parish.
I canāt say that itās
ever drawn my attention, in any parish, and Iāve never really noticed it being a cause of attention on the part of others, either.
As kindly as possible, may I ask, is it possible that this is a bigger deal to
you than it is to the people around you? Are you perhaps looking for or expecting weird glances and expressions and such? Perhaps misinterpreting normal behaviors on peoplesā parts?
Just a thought⦠I live in Silicon Valley. We have such a wide range of people and attires in the malls and grocery stores and libraries and such, from full-hijab Muslim women, to saree-wearing Indians (including some to-die-for gorgeous outfits at Mass) to goth chicks with a frightening number of facial piercings. It takes an awful lot for me to notice someone as looking
different, KWIM? Like, a heckuva lot more than a lacey chapel veil or an artfully draped scarf covering the hair⦠Youād almost need to sprout a second head or something before really garnering a lot of funny looks.
