Wore my veil at the NO today

Good bunch of articles there, thanks for sharing. Our regular priest was back today and gave my 10 yo DD what she termed ‘funny looks’ while we were getting her veil bobby pinned this am.

I told her to ignore him, he is way too liberal to woory about an opinion. He thinks my kids are way too pious for their ‘ages’ - I only stay at this parish to go as a family (DH doesn’t want to ‘go back’ to Latin Mass)- we have many friends here that have been with me thru thick and thin and we are building a new church which we pledged to support, so other than the 2 times a month if I’m lucky that I get to Latin Mass, I have to deal with that.

for those of you who are undecided about the to wear a head covering be it veil or hat this may help your decision. in the bible 1 Corinthians 11:6 For if a woman does not cover her head, let her also have her hair cut off; but if it is disgraceful for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, let her cover her head. also when the vatican II came about there was confusion about the veil. liberal way of thinking was vastly becoming popular. women wanting to be like men chose to just quit wearing them. The pope himself though never decreed this to be alright. since the pope was undecided on the matter and never gave an answer to the question of the removing of the veil the priests and bishops just let it slide.

i spoke with an older man once, who told me he used to envy the women who wore their head coverings because it was an outward sign to show Christ their humility and love they have for Him.

I could, and very likely am, wrong, but I remember reading the historical context of this passage concerned a Christian church located near a temple where temple prostitutes gathered. As I remember, the head covering was supposed to identify or diferentiate the Christians from the pagan women, avoiding the good women of the church being mistaken as prostitutes. If this is true, it would be interesting to know. Can anyone shed any light on the historical context of 1 Corinthians 11:6?

You’re probably not gonna find a definitive answer about this…I’ve heard this particular historical context idea going around for years. There is no proof to substantiate it, but at the same time you have some scholars who think it makes so much sense that they defend it as historical fact. So…
