The Catholic Church in the Philippines is battling the culture of death, as the President of the country and many in Congress seek by law to create a government campaign of “reproductive health” measures, most prominently among them a campaign of give-away contraceptives and an energetic promotion of their use among the people. Contraceptives are already available in the Philippines. This article tells how Manny Pacquiao, now a member of the Philippine Congress, along with other Catholics in the country, has been fighting this measure. The final battle probably is coming soon, since the bill for this may come to a vote in the next few weeks. The Philippines is 85% Catholic. Foreign interests have been intervening in support this program, a number of U.N. agencies just together issuing a statement to apply pressure on the Philippines for this program.
