Scientists have modelled the end of the earth, planets, sun. Basically, the sun is a second generation star. That means it has heavy metals in its make up… We call it a yellow dwarf. And predict It is about 4. 6 billion years old. It’s powered by hydrogen. . It’s burning hydrogen up and this causes helium to build up at is core. The core is getting hotter as this happens.
Now in a few billion years into the future the sun will burn up all its hydrogen store and become a giant red dwarf. Helium will be the fuel at the core of the sun, burning and making the core hotter. But the surface temp of the sun will be much colder. It won’t be able to support life on earth.
Now while this helium burning is happening, the sun will expand , we think, maybe as far as the earth. Hence the term giant red dwarf. Water will all evaporate as this expansion is happening.
Only God knows when Judgement day will arrive. Scientists can model the physical universe based on the scientific law God created and set in place. We can say ice will melt at a certain temperature, alcohol will freeze at a certain temperature, we can tell you why ice floats on water, they are both made of H2O.
But only God knows the date of the end of the world.
Scientist can look at the trajectory of an asteroid and know pretty much these days if it’s going to hit, I am not sure how early a warning system NASA has got going yet.
But remember, we have had big hits in the past, one we believe wiped out Dinosaurs due to the nuclear winter it created. Mammals survived though. They were very small and mostly lived under ground and in hollows etc. So even if an asteroid hits

Funny you should mention that.
My parents are both from Poland, and they seem to remember some sort of folk tradition that stated the second-to-last Pope would be a Pole. I think this might date back to at least my great-grandmother’s time, although I’d have to check on that.
(Lest anyone, for some strange reason, should read too much into that: the same folk tradition stated that last Pope, the one following the Pole, would be an African.)

I also wanted to indicate somewhere in it that I was also a female member, too–hence–“mare.”
The number 2 was included on the end of it, just in case there might have been another member with a similar username, since this is such a large forum. That way there could be someone else who might be a “1,” and I could be the “2.”

I think it’s a normal part of growing up to have some fears about the world ending when you’re a teen. When I was a teen, I worried about nuclear holocaust and tornadoes. You grow out of it. No biggie.

You don’t believe Scott Hahn teachings? I mean, I guess you’re free to do so but he’s a pretty well-respected theologian, and as far as I know his teachings are approved by the Church.
