It may, although the trends suggest that it won’t be in the western hemisphere or in Europe. The areas of the world where the percentage of Catholics increased are in SE Asia and in Africa.
Globally, the percentage of Catholics remained the same. While the absolute number of Catholics in the world increased, the world’s population also increased at an equal rate. And in Europe and South America, the percentage of Catholics declined by a small amount.
