World's climate warming faster than feared, scientists say

Um, yeah…the earth has been cooling for the past 17 years…as documented by numerous new stories. Scientists can’t explain it, even as CO2 emissions are higher than ever (thanks to China). Meanwhile, both poles have increased and record ice coverage, and the US has been called in to rescue two other ice breakers in the antarctic. And arctic ice has increased 30% over last year.

The East Anglia scandal has confirmed that global warming is a fraud, it is all about grant dollars and environmental (socialist ) dogma. Anything based on computer models isn’t science- it is guesswork.

I can’t stand this climate propaganda rubbish.
Www.skepticalscience.com says none pf the scandal emails says anything to disprove anything.

Can you explain how they do?

So what caused it to be so hot the other 3 years that were hotter? Could the sun not have something to do with it? New York had the most snow this year its had since over 100 years ago. What caused it to snow so much 100 years ago? These people that propagate this non-sense have another agenda. And saving the planet isn’t it. It’s about control. They have their useful idiots though. plenty of them.

I would like to take the other side of the argument on climate change; since most of you take the “climate change deniers” side. All of the things mentioned below are of my experiences and my opinions. I feel like it’s time to hear more of the “pro” side of the argument; and to call others to argue in a more rational way.

It’s not a surprise to see most of the doubters come from the United States, which is the most skeptical country when it comes to climate change. I come from the Philippines, which is the most aware country in the world when it comes to tackling the problem of climate change.

Just to clarify: global warming is the natural process of the planet’s heat mechanism; climate change is the rapid change in the usual patterns in climate. For example the extreme cold weather you Americans experienced last January can be an example of climate change because Januarys are usually not that extremely cold.

I would say that since we are an archipelagic country, we are one of the most vulnerable to rising sea levels and rising global temperatures - if you would take the pro-climate change argument. Based on my experience climate change is already starting to take a toll on us. Our usual monsoon season is from June to October. Typhoon Haiyan - the strongest typhoon in recorded history - hit landfall here in November. Other typhoons have been erratic as well. Recently we had a typhoon on January - which is an unusual month for a typhoon to be in.

Our usual cold season is from December to February. People here expect their Christmas to be colder than usual. This year it didn’t happen. So did the previous year. And the year before that. It’s the summer season here in the Philippines now, and if you would come here you would feel like you entered an oven. And everyday there have been so many erratic weather patterns sometimes I feel that the weather here is becoming stereotypically British.

The facts of climate change are very apparent here in where I live. There have been times when extreme weather has hit us in the past; but more recently it has become so erratic. I believe people should look at the facts and notice what we are doing to the environment. The statistics are already obvious. People shouldn’t be clouded by their ideology to see that we are making a big impact in our environment. God has placed us as stewards of His creation; and we have to live up to that title. I think climate change doubters are committing the sin of blind pride; thinking that our actions don’t have an impact on God’s Creation and we can destroy it anytime we wish.

Yeah, call me as someone who is “brainwashed by climate change propaganda” and “pseudo- and invalid scientists”, but when I see the facts and see that those facts are slowly becoming a reality it’s becoming all too real. We Filipinos are suffering because of erratic and extreme weather. Americans can sit comfortably all they want while our country - and many others- sinks beneath the sea. Maybe it is God’s punishment on us and every other human being - punishment for ruining His Creation and being too proud to not see it.

P.S. The president of university that I study in, Fr. Jose Ramon Villarin is a priest… and a climate change scientist. Google his name. Just goes to show that the attitude on climate change is cultural.

Yeah, it’s called the weather. There are no useful weather predictions beyond about 7 days or so. There is that much chaos in an incredibly complicated system, let alone trying to pick out a human-caused climate signal in there. You cannot pick out weather events to try to make a point about climate. The 2013 Atlantic hurricane season was the quietest in decades, and the US also had a record low tornado count in 2013. What does that prove? I’m not sure it proves anything.

Accusing your perceived opponents of committing a sin and the making that leap to people actually wanting to destroy God’s creation is completely over the top. Climate change is a completely abstract idea. Trying to correlate it with actual planetary destruction makes no sense.

Not saying climate isn’t changing, has been since the world started turning. Nor am I expert enough to say there is no man made effect there may be some. Can you please advise us which climate model that isn’t working (since none of them are ) that Fr. Jose Ramon Villarin likes.

The skepticism on my part starts with the warmist hysteria and name calling of those who disagree. That is not the way to engage in a public debate. Secondly, when taxing everybody is the answer given by warmist then I see a real disconnect between the alleged problem and the proposed solution. Finally like I said the real problem is the warmist models have been off because by now there was to be no more artic ice

Whew! For a few seconds there, I thought this thread was about yet ANOTHER speed-up in global warming. But then i looked back at the first post and see we’re still on the January speed-up. But if there was one in January, can there fail to be one in, say, July? Are accelerations a quarterly thing, one wonders, or only semiannual? 🤷

I don’t know about you, RR, but since this posting commenced in January, the weather has gotten a LOT warmer. No doubt by next January, if present trends continue, this planet is going to be BOILING hot! :bigyikes:

I am now a believer…

Well, I don’t want to be a “denier”, so I’ll go with you on this.

I know that there are some skeptics out there concerning global warming or climate change but I am a believer in it. I think that it is happening and will continue to happen. I worry about what this could do to our weather, ecosystem, food supplies, coastal populations, etc etc etc. I think we should definitely trust in God but we should also definitely take reasonable measures to reduce the impact of it and to prevent it from becoming too severe.

So, you going to believe the models or your lying eyes?

So far, the only solutions being offered are unaffordable energy costs and get rich schemes for those involved in the solutions.

Will you be able to afford heating your home or driving your car under Obama’s tax and cap plan?

I have no idea if I’ll be able to afford such things. I hope I will be able to. That’s the one thing I don’t like about such solutions. They make life difficult for those living in poverty.

I’m middle class. I’ve already had to sell our family home and move because my utility bills were skyrocketing. Over $200.00/month on a modestly sized 1,400 sq foot house 5 years ago. Although my last child had gone away to college at the time, I wanted to keep their rooms and space for future grandchildren.

Wow. I’m sorry to hear that you’ve had such difficulties due to skyrocketing utility bills.

I live in a small one bedroom apartment and it is subsidized housing. My electric bill usually runs around $70-$80 a month which is very reasonable. However, I have noticed that my bills have increased in price during the past couple of years. It used to be that it would be closer to $70 a month but lately its been around $80 per month. One month it was actually $120 for one month and that was shocking. I have no idea why it was so high.

Don’t feel sorry for me. I was lucky I was able to sell my house and find something reasonable and nice. I worry about the people like you who have no alternatives.

My point was, utility bills are already skyrocketing, as Obama has promised, to mitigate global warming. It is hurting everybody except the rich, who can afford it.

Sky rocketing energy costs affect every aspect of your life. Your grocery bills are up due to increased costs of transportation. Your gasoline costs, public transportation, ALL of it is affected by the cost of energy.

Yet Obama and his pals are oblivious to the pain they is causing while flying around in their CO2 producing jets.

It’s a crime.

I’m still agog at Obama’s fuel use in his trip to Africa. About a dozen ships, numerous heavy armored vehicles, and round-the-clock fighter jet overhead cover. And, of course, Air Force I and Air Force II. Probably exceeded the CO2 emissions of every person on CAF for years.

People like Obama and Gore really don’t believe in global warming themselves or they wouldn’t do things like that. But they surely do know that nothing we do in the U.S. is going to have any significant impact on worldwide CO2 emissions. In wanting to make utility bills “skyrocket”, Obama is not doing anything to affect the environment, and he knows he isn’t. It’s all a money thing. He gets money from radical environmentalists and (he hopes) the government can raise more revenue by additionally taxing fuel use.

One should not have to “believe” in science. Man-made global warming is overrated and based on faulty models.
I think that it is happening and will continue to happen. I worry about what this could do to our weather, ecosystem, food supplies, coastal populations, etc etc etc.
Addressing a non-existent problem like man-made climate change is having a negative impact on the environment.

The construction of alternative energy infrastructure has already affected ecosystems, endangered species, food supplies and coastal populations.
I think we should definitely trust in God but we should also definitely take reasonable measures
Pray for the gift of knowledge to see through the left-wing, environmentalist nonsense.
]to reduce the impact of it and to prevent it from becoming too severe.
That is beyond our capabilities.
