Worst anime you've ever watched?

If something was so bad I just drop it so I’ve never watched a bad one all the way through…I’d say top of that list would be Code:Breaker. Terrible animation, music, dialogue, lead character etc. I watched like 3 episodes of that maybe. I couldn’t make it past 20 episodes of Fairy Tail either. So irritating in so many ways. I can’t make it past episode 10 of Steins/Gate…ugh.
Of the ones I’ve watched all the way through I’d say the one I least liked would maybe be Black Blood Brothers, Eden of the East, Guilty Crown or Sword Art Online. Each of those had their good aspects though which is why I didn’t just quit watching them.

Sure. Steins;Gate was long, boring and complicated but its a very promising anime. It didn’t get a place on the Top 5 for nothing

I couldn’t stand it. I think it just annoyed me from beginning to end. Her voice was like nails on a chalkboard.

But bear in mind, I’m not a great anime fan to begin with. I do kinda like the one with the girl who staples the guy’s mouth…Bakemonogatari I think?

And “Saint Young Men,” which is not as blasphemous as I imagined it would be, but I’ve only seen 2 episodes so far.

As for my worst anime that I’ve ever watched… I’ll go with Chrono Trigger! Fantastic game, boring anime, at least for me anyway.
2nd place would have to be: My Coffee Samurai: A Vending Machine Boyfriend. I couldn’t help but laugh at how bad things were done in this show.

I wasn’t a big fan of Squid Girl either, I think I only watched a few eps and I just had to stop (and usually I always finish all series I start)… I guess it never really grabbed my attention.

Yeah, I was talking about the hideously mutilated American version done by 4kids. On the rare occasions when I watched it as a kid (I wasn’t supposed to, since it had egyptian magic in it, but sometimes my cousins would watch an episode or two), I was alternately bored and horrified.

Haha, I used to love that show! I followed it religiously when it was airing on Kid’s WB. But I think after the 2nd or 3rd season, I got kind of bored of it, since the battles weren’t as exciting anymore. I like to think that Yami Yugi/ Atem is the only sane member of the cast, but he’s unaware of the amazing powers of friendship. He thinks that it’s just a good value to have, while the other members of the main cast know that chanting “friendship” a couple of times is pretty much good for taking out anything the villain of the week throws at them.

I think my issue with watching Yugioh unironically is the same as my issue watching DBZ. I’m interested in character interaction, but both shows give you character interaction, fighting/dueling, and dead space in a ratio of about 1:4:4. And that’s being generous. YGO is better about dead space than DBZ is, but DBZ has a crazy awesome moment every now and then. DBZ comes out on top in terms of how many planets were destroyed.

Also, to be fair, I probably liked both shows less than you guys since I wasn’t exactly the target audience… I kept waiting for Tea to do something other than extoll the values of friendship.

Well, if we were talking about Anzu, I wouldn’t have the same complaints with the show. The Japanese version is… Different. :hypno: Undoubtedly superior, but very, very different.

At least even Tea does more than Bulma and Chichi in DBZ.

Naaah… Bulma pwns Vegeta in my all-time fave DBZ scene.

She throws him in the shower and tosses his clothes in a washer and he says in a quavery voice, “Woman? Where are my clothes?” And she replies “My name is BULMA!”

Naturally he falls for her. End of story.

Yeah, Bulma is pretty awesome, come to think of it… I don’t think they appreciate the fact that she can show them the locations of all the dragonballs immediately- meaning that in certain parts of the series, death is barely a setback at all.

I really hate Vegeta, though. I know it’s cheating to judge him by what he did before the last arc (I haven’t seen the ending), but he’s AWFUL. Which theoretically should make his eventual redemption better, but… I really can’t like him when he used to go around committing random acts of genocide. (I know it’s hypocritical to love Piccolo and hate Vegeta, but that’s where I stand. )

I still have to support his relationship with Bulma, but only because it’s required for Trunks to come into existence. And because the scene where Trunks freaks out about people changing his past is hilarious.

That show was probably the most flawed thing I have ever seen. You have to be pretty epic starting out to have that many problems. It’s something of a “love it or hate it” work.

It was what really got me into anime, though, so it must have done something right.

I watched it to the end on CN. I needed to see What Happened Next. Here is my take:

I wanted Shinji to die. Violently. Maybe at the hands of Frieza.

Felony misuse of Christian theology.

Depressing. Dun like. Icky. Dun like. Confusing. Dun like.

I disliked it slightly less in Japanese. Shinji is played by Kurama.

Awesome opening and closing themes, though.

I liked Shinji. I don’t think you’re supposed to like him, but I did. It was mostly empathy, though- when I watched it, I was a veeeery insecure, introverted 9th grader who had a tendency to give up on stuff. I liked his “I mustn’t run away” mantra and how hard he was always trying. He wasn’t my favorite character- I liked Rei and Asuka more, especially Rei- but I definitely don’t hate him. I understand why people do, though.

Opening is awesome. Use of Christian symbolism is NOT. :nope:

I didn’t find it that depressing, but for the opposite reason as most people. Those who like the ending often say it was about not giving up. I, on the other hand, was so mad about the cop-out (after I learned that they had not simply gone insane ) that I became angry and was brought out of my sadness, determining that I would not turn out like Shinji.

I want to watch End of Evangelion at some point, but I haven’t made it past the first five minutes.

I’m pretty mystefied by the fact that the fanservice didn’t bother me at all. Normally I hate it, but I distinctly remember blabbing A LOT about the show I was watching. There was a lot of “Mom, it’s the coolest thing EVER! There are three pilots in this show, and TWO of them are female! MORE THAN HALF! And there’s a female scientist and a female major and they all do things and have flaws and personalities, and it’s AWESOME.”

“That’s nice, dear.”

I guess that’s how watching all that DBZ (among other shows) affected my expectations. For me, it was a step in the right direction.
