I like that one too. My son (age 7) saw it with me and said, “I’m going to buy a ring like that for my wife one day.”
I forgot to mention that I’m partial to Kay Jewelers 'cause that’s where DH got my ring 20 years ago… and the “Journey of Love” heart necklace he gave me for our 20th anniversary! 😃

JG Wentworth “Its MY money, and I want it NOW!” is totally selfish and trresponsible. Really burns my buttons!! Also there are all kinds of class action lawsuit commercials for mesothelioma patients and victims of bad drugs. I hate ambulance chasers!

The first time I saw it, I thought it was such a nice, “feel good” commercial until it got to the phrase, "ut if your plans don’t include another baby…" and I was horrified. Basically, the commercial is showing all the wonderful things that can happen in a woman’s life - except a baby.

How sad. How very sad.

That’s the worst commercial ever. It makes a baby sound like some horrible inconvenience that gets in the way of your amazing life plans. Sick, really, when you think about it.

I mock all birth control commercials when they come on. “Why, yes, Seasonale, I would LOVE to pump my body full of artficial hormones and risk blood clots and strokes! Thanks, but no thanks!”

(I have to admit that I think the Axe commercial where the guy turns into chocolate is kind of funny.)

I find all commercials for “intimate” products annoying, whether feminine hygiene or Viagra but the worst is one for (how to put this?) an aid to female solitary sin that fits on one’s fingertip.
One ad in this category that is sort of cute is for the His & Hers K-Y with a married couple trying for a little romance before the kids get home.

Another that I hate is for an Alzheimer’s medication – the evidence that Grandpa needs medical treatment? – he calls his g’daughter by the wrong name. My father used to call me by all three of my brother’s names before he got it right and I’ve often called my son by my brother’s name. Come on. folks, you’ll have to do better than that before I’ll talk to my doctor about your undoubtedly expensive medicine.

Any other nominees?

OH! Almost forgot – birth control commercials, nova ring (yechh!), patches, &c, &c. Once they finish listing the side effects I figure that if I were a woman I’d just get an aluminum bat to clobber any guy who got too close. Side effects may include fractured ribs and skulls – for him.
  • Advertisements for credit. Bad idea - very.
  • The advertising of anything over the closing credits of a programme.
  • Endless trailing of a programme
Apart from those, nothing I can think of.
I forgot: there is a particularly loathsome advertisement for a programme called “Antiques Roadshow” on BBC1:
  • the advertisement features vast amounts of antiques being destroyed,by accident. There is something very offensive in the contrast between the advertisement, & the programme.

I was wonder if someone was going to comment on all the lawsuit commercials. There’s also the ones about how much money so and so saved them from the IRS or call this number to get out of Credit Card Debt.

I got $600 for my scrap gold.

Happy Cows come from California. Sorry, I am from Vermont and I am use to local Milk and Cheese.

Pretty much any commercial on TV stinks. That is what DVR is for.

LOL!!
I’m from upstate New York, where the cows outnumber the people in some places so that ad doesn’t fly here either.

  • those narcisstic, selfish, cocky Cadillac commercials
-those ANNOYING Ford F-150 commercials…please take them off the air!

-any bud light commercials

I can’t stand the one with the couple in the boat with the hole in it. She proceeds to plug the hole with a “feminine product”. Who needs to see that???😊

Hate the Axe commercial with the edible chocolate man. But what absolutely kills me is the Lysol commercial where everything is covered in moving bacteria, the phone, toilet handle, the child coming home from school. I actually have to change the channel. Just thinking about it now gives me the heebie jeebies!

What breaks my heart is an ad for animal rescue that shows all the poor little mistreated cats and dogs…Can’t watch that one either.

You people have me rolling over here. :rotfl:

I have to agree with many of the commercials listed. The ones that drive me batty are the ones that do not use common sense. That would be most commericals right? 👍 The Chic-Fil-A commericals for example. Why are they using dairy cows? You do not eat the dairy cow. She has no reason to fear being eaten. It’s the beef cows who need to be worried about being eaten. I guess beef cows are not pretty enough? 🤷

I do agree the “IT’S MY MONEY AND I WANT IT NOW!!!” commericals are just plain irritating. Ya so be a little more responsible, get a job and maybe you can EARN some money!

Agreed. But at least Chik-Fil-A is in the ballpark (cows, broadly defined = beef). Someone explain to me the Absolut vodka commercial with the pillow fight. How is THAT supposed to sell vodka???

And did I (thank God!) miss it or did they (please, God!) shelf the infamous and wildly irritating Thanksgiving commercial: “I brought the green bean cassero-o-o-o-ole!”

Just saw this one the other night – woman driving down the street when it starts raining shoes. So she jumps out of her car and starts grabbing them up.

No, it wasn’t a shoe commercial, it was for her high cargo-capacity vehicle. Grrrr.

Let me join in on saying that the Cadillac commercials are awful, particularly the ones featuring the women. They’re so narcissist.

I actually don’t mind the Bud Light commercials, even if I can’t drink their product for another few years. Most of them are kind of funny. The only ones I really hated were the “Dude!” versions. Especially the one in Las Vegas.

A while back a pizza chain (I think it was Domino’s, not sure) advertised a dessert pizza, in which the man and his son eating it were growing beards made out of the cookies and chocolate on the pizza. My problem is with the actors. They’re terrible! Maybe it’s supposed to be that way as a joke, but there is absolutely no feeling in their words. My sister and I are involved in lots of community theater, and we find that lack of energy sort of repelling.

What bothers me more than the commercials are the teasers for the TV shows. Most of them are gruesomeness or feature suggestive content from the upcoming episode. The mute button on our remote gets a lot of exercise whenever we watch Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, because right after that is Desperate Housewives, and right after that used to be Boston Legal. You can imagine the stuff their teasers air.

I don’t think I’ve seen that one, but the “I WANT IT ALL!!! I WANT IT ALL!!! **AND I WANT IT **NOW!!!****!!!” ad (singing in the background) with the guy in a lounge chair (looking like a king on a throne) gawking in front of 40+ TV sets at a store with the salesman grinning is getting more and more annoying. Sounds like the national anthem of materialism…

Same here. What annoys me is watching a decent family related show on TLC (and it’s always ones about large families), then what’s the first commercial they show? Birth control! (the “Hey emotional! Hey logical!” one is really bad and annoying.

There are so many of them, it’s hard to say which ones annoy me the most…I know the ‘male enchancement’ ones drive me nuts!

I usually tilt my head back and close my eyes-the mute button doesn’t work 🤷 .

I remember the funny creative ones growing up…today’s are just non-stop sex!

One my wife hates: the “female” M&M doing a dance routine with a sexy voice-over while the three “males” are ready to melt, then at the end she reverts to her normal voice.

I think it’s kinda cute, though they really don’t need sex to sell me on their product.

I don’t like commercials that go beyond the product… but imply something like “If you don’t buy this your life will be miserable!!!” in some way.
it’s like they’re trying to manipulate the viewer into buying…

I cannot stand the commercials for Jared Jewelers (“He went to Jared!”) Ugh! That tagline makes me want to scream! It’s like the only or main reason the man is any good is because he patronized this particular jeweler!

On the other hand, the commercials for Kay Jewelers always get me misty-eyed. I thought they couldn’t top the Christmas one with the couple choosing a tree, but their latest one–a young couple walking along, the young man taking the young lady to visit places where they had special memories (“This is where we went on our first date. This is where we had our first kiss”), then taking her to a park bench–She: “I don’t remember this place.” He: “You will.” and he opens the box with the engagement ring and the commercial ends with her saying, “This is where I said, ‘Yes’!” :bighanky:

So I like sappy, sentimental commercials… something the Jared ones are not!
aw that’s sweet 🙂
