Both were shocking, but Indy 4 for me was worse because you shouldnt expect it to be that bad, I was truly dismayed on how they completely stuffed it up, I mean Aliens in a Indy film, are you serious??! and dont get me started on the fridge scene lol, I walked out of the cinemas a shattered man after that, How can they go from “Raiders of the lost Ark” to that rubbish, I could of wrote a better script! So for me Indiana Jones is STILL a trilogy…

Tranformers 2 I saw at the imax, we were the last in and we had to sit in the front row, all I remember seeing was shapes and colours and we all walked out with a massive headache, Micheal Bay needs to relax with his close ups lol…
You mean we have an Indy 4 movie?? What was the name of it? I must have missed that one. 🤷

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Released on Memorial Day weekend 2008.
Oh that one! I loved that one for some reason. There are real crystal skulls around the world. There are supposed to be 13 of them. But no one knows why or how they got here cuz they are not man-made.

Now, the second movie in the trilogy, the one where they ate those weird foods was the most awful movie made.

There is one crystal skull that is exquisitely carved, and archeologists (anthropologists? Don’t remember, it’s been a long time) admit they do not know how it was carved without modern instruments. From that, the Alien Visitor crowd have deduced that it was not carved by people (ie. not man made). That’s a bit of a leap. The fact that I do not know how a tablet computer is made doesn’t make it alien origin (but maybe…)

The other crystal skulls I’ve seen are much less well carved. Crude is my description of them. Looking at them, you would not attribute them to an advanced civilization.

And, as far as I know, none of them had the bulgy back of the skull like in the movie. (Hmmm, a bit longer, and you’re starting to get into xenomorph like skulls…:bigyikes: )

Tom A.
I’ve nothing against aliens, except for the theory that they came across uncounted light years of distance to not talk to anyone of importance.

Yeah, if there were really aliens, they should have been talking to us by now. Weird. Unless they are just observing us all this time.

Dune. I was SO annoyed at the heroes running around the desert with their long hair blowing in the wind, while they were meant to be wearing Still Suits which hugged the head, leaving a bit of face showing.

The Dune series of books are the only ones that I sold instead of keeping. They were so dense with characters, a specialised vocabulary and history, that I needed a study course to get through it with understanding.

The movie Dune only touched on so many things that I think if I had not read the books I would have been totally non-plussed by the sketchy plot.
Plus the fact that the plot line of the movie barely resembled the books. Weirding modules? Pul-leese!

Here is an exciting candidate, After Earth! It opens this weekend and is rated a 13 on Rottentomatoes. I will not watch it as one review said it was “hard to watch”. I prefer easy to watch films.

UFOs could be unmanned drones, which would explain why they avoid contact. If a civilization is thinking about crossing the interstellar void to check out a possible habitable (or conquerable!) planet, it would make sense that they would send probes first to see if it fits their parameters. then radio the data back to the decision-makers. The Great Zorn Interstellar Armada of Conquest might be making its way to us now.

I’ve never seen it, but I have a feeling that had I seen it, K-Pax with Kevin Spacey would be my least favorite sf movie.

As it is, “Lifeforce” with Patrick Stewart is my least favorite sf movie of all time. Words can’t express how horrible this movie is on every level. Watching it is an experience that can be equated with being held hostage at gunpoint.

Yes you! I don’t think that the Great Zorn whatever does not exist! You prolly got that from some syfy movie. 😃
But if you don’t believe that the Great Zorn Armada does not exist…doesn’t the double-negative mean you think they do exist?

You will be richly rewarded for your trust by the Mighty Commander Zagorb, Hereditary Ruler of the Zorn Empire, Conqueror of the Thilians, Enslaver of the Mag’reb, and Subjugator of the Zuts.

😉

Sorry, the worst Sci-Fi movie ever made was “The Cold Equations”

It took a seminal science fiction short story, with a very specific tone, approach and point and completely ruined it. Turned into a run-of-the mill corporations are evil and exploitive generic garbage.

I’ll stick up for a couple movies here-

District 9. Very well done for what the director was trying to convey. Not accessible to everyone who couldn’t get beyond the ‘grossness’ utilized to emphasize the alien aspect. They were truly a completely differerent type of entity than humans. Now, is it great art? Probably not if those choices make it so inaccessible to a lot of people.

Transformers 2. The scene in the Smithsonian is a fantastic visual commentary on opposition to evil (the theme of the movie). Lack of preparedness, resolve, appeasement etc. Unfortunately, you need to know a lot about aviation history particularly WWII and the Cold War to get it. From the War in China during the 30s with the P-40 flown by the AVG (aka the Flying Tigers) whose pilots (including Pappy Boyington) were critiziced as being mercenaries by the press in the US , the P-40 being the only aircraft to react to Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor where the US lack of preparedness proved disastrous, through the Island hopping campaign with the F4U Corsair (…flown by Pappy Boyington. Now portrayed by the press as one of those heroic Flying Tigers who’d seen the threat from Japan early and taken action), ultimately resulting in the decision to drop nuclear weapons with the first by the Enola Gay (shown twice, with the name displayed prominently in the scene). Contrasted with the Cold war history where US investment in readiness including fantastically expensive non-combatant reconassince as deterrence SR-71, and small scale confrontations (MiG vs Phantom II) without direct war between Soviet Union and the US. So, a nice shot of the SR-71 framed by the P-40 on it’s right and the F4U on the left after having shown each separately… WWII lack of readiness and what transpired vs Cold War committment to readiness. I also think the different motivations of each of the main characters is distinctly different and interesting, and the choice of USS KIDD and STENNIS given who they were named for, wonder if Bay chose them for a reason … all this in a kids movie really targeted at teens… maybe I’m giving Bay too much credit.

He had a robot with giant, metal testicles. I think you’re absolutely giving him too much credit. 😉

Funny. There is no evidence that UFOs are anything more than secret earth-made aircraft.

Peace,
Ed

I am going to agree with those posters who put Blade Runner as the worst SciFi movie. I had heard so many rave reviews from SciFi fans and friends who loved the movie. I watched the movie in anticipation of a “Luke, I’m your father” moment but all I got were “animal crackers in my soup”. But wait, I want to throw out one more movie that I had high hopes for but it absolutely stunk (in my eyes) and that was the J.J Abrahms/Steven Spielberg collaboration - Super 8. It was a super dumb SciFi movie.

Has anyone mentioned Santa Claus Conquers the Martians? I think Dropo could really be the worst character in the history of motion pictures.
