The correct title is Killer Klowns from Outer Space. (Yes, I’m nitpicking.) I thought it was a hoot. B-movie sci-fi comedy, intentionally outlandish. Not meant to be taken seriously.

My bad but yes, it was so stupid. We shouldn’t let the kids watch it tho! 😃 Some kids are scared of clowns.

King Kong, the 2005 version.

Sure, the special effects blow away the earlier versions,
but it takes an hour and a half of endless dialogue and boring situations before you first see Kong and by then you no longer care.
This is why the movie raced through the theatres to DVD before you could burp.

Here’s one I forgot, Close Encounters of the Third Kind.😦
This is one that I was fascinated with as a kid. It was routinely the “ABC Sunday Night Movie of the Week” back in the early '80s, but with my bedtime at 9:00 I only got to see the first hour of it. I don’t think I ever saw the whole thing through, although much later in life I saw the ending.

Although I wouldn’t call CE3K one of the worst, as october baby has, it’s one of my least favorite films by Spielberg. Primary reason - Richard Dreyfuss’ character alienates his family with his obsession.

  1. The whole Richard Dreyfuss thing should have been cut from the film. It was long, repetitious, and boring. I’m guessing Spielberg thought Dreyfuss was the big upcoming star in Hollywood and he wanted to exploit him. Someone’s value will come out eventually. Dreyfuss was no Cary Grant, Spencer Tracy, or even Elvis Presley. Who seeks him out now?
  2. Spielberg is an organ player on the emotional chords of the public. It’s all emotions with him. The aliens might have had an interesting message to give us. They gave no message at all because there was no time. Spielberg was too busy pulling our heartstrings. This was a great opportunity lost.

Just as a side note, I thought it was weird how willing he was to volunteer to visit the aliens’ home world and perhaps never to see his children again, or even say goodbye to them. (Not to mention Teri Garr but I guess that bridge was effectively burnt already.)

And have you noticed how there was one stupid part where Dreyfuss character goes up to the mountain and saw the big mother ship playing the Jaws theme??? Was that before or after Jaws?? I couldn’t remember?? 😃

After. Columbia Studios gave Steven Spielberg carte blanche to make “Close Encounters” as he saw fit as a direct consequence of the amazing financial success of “Jaws.” “Close Encounters” was his personal pet project, whereas “Jaws” was the movie that earned him his wunderkind reputation.

Added: just noticed this note in the Wikipedia entry for the movie: “In a 2005 interview, Spielberg stated that he made Close Encounters when he did not have children, and if he were making it today, he would never have had Neary leave his family and go on the mother ship.”

Ah!! So Spielberg created the character based on his own single life without thinking! 😃 Another thing too, if you would notice real closely as the Jaws theme was playing, Dreyfuss was genuinely grinning from ear to ear personally. Sometimes I can tell if they are acting or for real.
