Sometimes I like to listen to awful songs to laugh at how bad they are. I’m sure others do too. This thread is for them; please give anything to so bad it’s funny or so bad it’s sad or some mix of the two that makes you shed dolorous tears while laughing like a lunatic.

My two cents:

“Friday” by Rebecca Black (if there is anyone on planet earth that has not heard it before)

“Chocolate Rain” by artist I don’t know

Mothers Of Hope - John James
Life At The Outpost - Skatt Brothers

Anna Kendrick - When I’m Gone

Nothing against Ms. Kendrick, she’s got a lovely voice, it’s the repetitive lyrics that get me. :nope:

Anything sung by SpongeBob Squarepants or the Pirate who sings ''Who is the Sponge That Lives Under the Sea, SpongeBob Squarepants! I hear him in my sleep, ahhh:eek:

Da Da Da, by Trio.

If you don’t know it, you can find it on Youtube, but don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Muskrat Love
McArthur Park
Macarena

All abysmal.

Followed closely by the badly sung Bette Davis Eyes. blech
Makes you wonder how some of these people got a recording deal.

I went to a weekend-long retreat this past Lent called “Light of the World”. The theme song, appropriately also entitled “Light of the World”, a folkish liturgical song performed by a lone woman with a guitar, drove me crazy. Every time they played it and invited us to sing along, it was all I could do not to flip over tables and drive everyone out of the building with a whip.

I must take umbrage at your inclusion of Jimmy Webb’s classic MacArthur Park in your list. The Richard Harris version is without compare. I will agree, however, if you meant the Donna Summer disco version.

Speaking of bad religious songs, I cannot stand the song “Go Make A Difference.” I cannot tell you how many times that song has made me want to walk out of Mass. It was the unofficial theme song of my Catholic high school and I was in the liturgical choir. Everybody in choir hated it, I knew no soul in the school that liked it, but, we still had to sing it at about half of our masses and special events. It is just so repetitive and happy clappy.

I just checked it out. Not only was it bad, the guy in the music video singing looked like a zombie. Funny, but, I couldn’t watch it all the way through.

In addition, very few musicians can accurately replicate the rhythm.
Always sounds bad.

I hate it when “Little Drummer Boy” is used as a hymn during Mass.

Besides the obvious fact that there was no little drummer boy, “pa rum pum pum pum” is hardly a lyric glorifying God.

Its true, a song can get on your nerves so much that you grow to hate it.

I played trumpet in marching band back in high school, and our director was apparently a fan of Barry Manilow. If I played his tired ballad, “I Write the Songs” once, I must have played it a thousand times. Can’t stand it now!

LOL
Sorry dude. Richard Harris is a fine actor, not much of a singer. And those lyrics! 😃

Thanks for the reply though. 👍

That’s how every church organist feels about Canon in D.
Blech.

😃 You didn’t need to hear it all the way through. It never changes.

THAT... is the worst song I have ever heard. There have even been online petitions BEGGING the charity to stop playing the song on the radio. To date the petitions have been unsuccessful.

Do NOT look for this song on YouTube. You'll be sorry. You'll never get it un-stuck from your head.

Agreed!

The original version, with the off-key child and the backwoods sounding man, is bad enough, but now they are playing new up-tempo versions in my area.

That is a dreary, overused tune. I imagine they ask you to play it at weddings, and maybe funerals? It would hasten my funeral if I had to hear it too often. I can’t believe there are three hour versions of it on Youtube!
