Would hacking be morally wrong?

Just think of it analogously as trespass.
So obviously trespassing is wrong in general.
Whilst trespassing a criminals home might be laudable, it’s still wrong as you should let the police do that.
But it’s ok if you are cooperating with legal authorities to do this.
It’s obviously ok to trespass your child’s room.
And trespassing to a secured area of a building to prove how unsecure it is…again whilst good intentions it is still wrong.

I think I’ve addressed all the analogous situations mentioned in the entire thread so far.
 
I think since the former owners of the computers gave them to Best Buy, Best buy can do whatever they want with the information on those computers…
 
There are even classes or teaching on ethical hacking.

The intent is what matters here. Don’t go all rogue justice or anything.
 
Doing damage or steeling would be a crime. But if you do not secure your network…it’s like leaving your blinds open and someone walking by can see in. Be on the safe side use a secure network.

Not really. One has an expected right to privacy in both cases.
 
If u leave ur blinds open and someone drives by and sees in ur window …ur not under arrest. Just trying to give a helpful suggestion. If you want privacy you need to close your blinds.

If you’re dancing nude in front of a picture window, yeah you can get charged for indecency. But if someone peers in your windows that is not legal in most states. In the US in the very least you have a legal right to a reasonable expectation of privacy in your own home.
 
Hacking is general term that can be used in a good way or a bad way. What distinguishes hacking as bad is piracy and/or plagiarism.

Computer geeks run “hackathons” all the time. Throughout history classical artists, composers, authors and even scientists have hacked each others works via a sort of tech transfer and information sharing. Hacking is actually a quite normal phenomenon we use to iteratively advance our society.

On the other hand, if you use hacking to steal information inappropriately, then you’re talking about piracy. That’s a completely different matter.
 
If u drive by and you see in someone’s window it’s not illegal. Be careful traveling in San Fran…who knows who’s window may be open…it should be illegal to leave windows open in some cases!

Looking at someone’s window intentionally violates the right to privacy. I’m not sure how much you can see driving by at any speed, however you cannot legally just peer into someone’s window.
 
If u go to Starbucks and they are not secure someone else will be able to see your traffic right along with their own…they cannot see their own info without seeing yours on the internet when viewing traffic.
 
Have you never experienced traffic? You cannot go into someone’s property to peer in a window without permission but if u r on a side walk or street u r on public property…and if u happen to see in someone’s window because they choose not to close the blinds …u did not break the law.

Again you can’t just look into people’s windows. Not allowed.

Yes even if you’re on public property you can’t just go looking into the windows of private homes.
 
Would hacking be wrong to disrupt an abortion factory?

To perhaps disrupt a planned parenthood direct mail campaign by electronically seeding in, say over a year period, a million false names and addresses, causing their paper mail deliveries to be less effective, wasted on non-entities?
 
Seriously … You find the penal code that says ur going to jail for that then, right?
 
So you should not have a problem finding a penal code for driving by and seeing in a window? When u find that…
