St Francis Xavier requested for an Inquisition because the Christians were misbehaving. The Inquisition took place years after he had died. What happened during that inquisition can not be blamed on him.

A lot of what happened to the people in India was because there western colonizers didn’t understand their culture. During those days, the west assumed their culture was far superior and those of the east and thus tried to teach them. It didn’t help when they saw some of the practices during those days that India is currently not proud of such as the very rigid caste system and Sati. The Syro-Malabar Christians for example suffered because they had a different rite and then that practiced by the Portuguese, and the Portuguese assumed that they were right.

Syro? I am sorry you lost me
You mentioned Syrian Orthodox populations. The Syro-Malabar and Syro-Malankar Churches in India derive from those origins – reputed to have stemmed from St. Thomas the Apostle.

He knew what an inquisition was.

Thus he knew what would happen.

Is maiming and torturing people appropriate punishment for “misbehaviour”?

Thankfully I am Canadian.🙂

Seriusly though, to answer your question, I dont hold america or any nation to the same moral standard as the RCC, neither should you.
Why not? If you just want to assign blame, perhaps you can justify holding a Church to a different standard than a nation. If, however, you want to be a part of that organization, a sin is a sin, and Canada has done some things that I, as a Canadian am not proud of either.

Sure the recent Morgentaler affair is just one of those things that offends me as a human being, that Canada has chosen to do.

I found myself praying for the unborn at 4am this morning “may G_D ease their pain, and have mercy on the poor women that must make such hard decisions”, what with my first child on the way.

Having said that, the goals of a nation are different from the goals of the RCC, which is why I maintain that it must adhere to a higher standard than a nation.

Amy,

If I knew the Truth as you know it, then I would be muslim.
Uh, no, it would actually make you a kaafir instead of a Muslim, because instead of submitting to that truth you’re rejecting it.
But for me the words of jesus speak truth in christian scripture.
Of course. Have you heard me say the words of Jesus (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) were not true?
That is the only truth I know, the rest of it - the trinity and such, its plausible, but I cannot say I buy it totally.
Then you should start with the truth. But it is the same truth I know–that Jesus was speaking the truth, that he was given revelation from God, and that what he taught was inspired.

But you do not really believe that human beings are meant to be perfect, originally created by G_D with a perfect sense of righteousness.

You believe that this world is a test.

I disagree with that, I believe that humans were created by G_D to be perfect like him, just as jesus tells people to be, just as G_D intended us to be.
You’re already Catholic. We were created by G-d to be perfect, but without Him we cannot be perfect. That’s why He had to come down here and take care of the situation personally!

No, I havent been baptised.😃

And I am not sure about many things the RCC teaches.
The answer to your original question is that you are not yet ready to swim the Tiber, but you are putting your toe in the water. Sometimes the process can take decades.

An inquisition an ecclesiastical institution to suppress heresy.
I do not know if he knew what would exactly what would happen during the Inquisition.

Whilst I accept the teachings of the catholic church, and I love its interpretation of christian scripture.

I have a problem with the past of the church.

I dont understand how the church taught one thing, and then condoned violence and hatred in its name.

In fact the behaviour of the catholic church is so repugnant to me, that I would find it extremely difficult to associate myself with an organisation with such a rabid past.

Yet I am drawn to its teachings.
Algebra,

You must be good in Math solving problems since you call yourself, “Algebra” with that said you should know that problems arise everywhere.

You say you have a problem with the past of the Catholic Church, let me tell you when it REALLY BEGAN! The problems with the Catholic Church started with “JUDAS the betrayer.” Oh yes! Once an Apostles of Jesus Christ.

Jesus, spoke this of Judas,** “It would be better for him not to have been born.”** Now this is a GREAT SIN that Judas committed, far worse than any inquisition in the History of the Catholic Church.

Algebra, if the problems strated so early on with Judas, in the Catholic Church, that means The Lord knows it will continue thorughout generations from time to time. Why? I tell you why the devil entered Judas and he will try until the end of time to enter into the Catholic Church to bring havoc and chaos. He trys to keep people like yourself away for the True Teachings of the Jesus Christ and his Catholic Church

Did our Lord Jesus Christ, after Judas betrayed him say I have to start my CHURCH all over again in the account of Judas? NO!

The Devil has succeeded many a time winning battles, here and there, as he did with Judas, etc… but he will not win the WAR! Against the Catholic Church!!! **AMEN **

Algebra, your/our problems with the Catholic Church started much earlier than you thought.

God Bless you on your way HOME
