Possibly. What the church is doing now is going back to a more literal interpretation of the missal and church documents. The change that happened in Vatican II was the Bishops sat down and decided well these things are really old and some of this language can’t be translated into modern english or any modern language so what we should do is look at the intent of the author and not try and recover what the text actually says.Hello all,
As the Catholic church begins the process of introducing the new Missal for the English-speaking churches, it seems to me that the RCC is moving back towards a more traditional direction, this is certainly true with our current Pope who, though not yet reintroducing the coronation or Papal Tiara, has nonetheless been largely friendly to traditionalism through his restoration of some Papal traditions and easing of restrictions on the use of the TLM.
Inevitably, this brings up the discussion of future, serious revisions to the order of Mass - almost certainly back in the general direction of the Tridentine form.
Yet the current form is a product of Vatican II, and, although the Holy Father can do largely what he wants, one must ask whether it would require another ecumenical council to make such significant changes.
What do you all think? And how likely do you think it is we’ll see a Vatican III within the next 50 years?
this very stupid idea if you ask me has finally been removed and we are going back to the way the church has always read the church documents. Which is why you see all of the strange language in the text. People back then really talked that way.
