Would this offend you?

Airplane food is what’s offensive!!!

On this particular issue, however, I’m on the fence.

What is America? If you want to make it genuinely American than we should be serving all Native American food. Everyone else here is a usurper or an immigrant.
A better question is, “What is the United States?”

Well, it sort of looks likes this

BECAUSE MCDONALDS IS AN AMERICAN ICON, NOT A KOSHER HALAL WHATEVER FOOD ESTABLISHMENT…IT’S AMERICA!!
Coca-Cola is also an American Icon. It sells Kosher for Passover Coke. If you are so concerned to keep religion out of our restaurants, I assume you agree that it should be kept out of schools, that christmas trees shouldn’t be displayed on public property, etc.?

If you look at most foods sold in the local supermarket you will notice that it is KOSHER…most packagaing has the following symbol(s) on it designating KOSHER…

Doesn’t bother me necessarily…but isn’t this rather inclusive?

I mean, I suppose myself and many others aren’t particularly bothered because Allah is God, or because it’s just mc donald’s, or even because nothing in our faith speaks against it.

But what if they were blessing meat in the name of Satan, or with witch’s spells? If halal should be allowed, then by golly, it’s time for Mc Hades! That’s only fair, right?

So I guess it bothers me not in the gross factor or the religion factor, but more in the idea of legalities and how this will affect freedoms.

Now this is an attorney talking, tryng to change everything around. Christmas is a National Holiday, don’t get me started here. In New York, it is ok to display a Menorah, and a Crescent Star, but not a Nativity? Jesus IS the reason for the season. And it isn’t Religion I want out of restaurants, it’s people who are here in my country for the wrong reasons.
And how do you drink Kosher coke??

I think the regular menu and the Muslim one should be seperate.

This reminds me of how walmart is trying to attract the Hispanic market by playing Spanish language music and walmart radio messages in the stores. As if paying lip service someone’s culture will make them want to shop there.

No food service industry can be compelled to accomodate every interest!

What restaraunt does? None. Mc Donalds can serve up whatever they wish, no one has to buy it!

Figures it would be Dearborn.

Looks like I will not be eating at McDonalds. Too bad, I like their breakfast.
I’m really not sure what the problem is here. In the article Valke points to, it’s clear that all the Mickey D’s folks in the Dearborn area have done is cater to their local market, like any good business should do.
  • 150,000 Muslims in the Detroit/Dearborn area
  • In some schools in the area, more than 90% of the students are Muslim
  • For one of the stores that has introduced the product, McNugget sales are double the national average, with well over half the requests being for the halal version
That sounds to me like there’s a market for it. So what should McDonald’s do, give up those sales, or take the sales and be accused of selling out?

I know which I’d do.

Besides, meeting the desires of your customers is what a business should be doing, unless there’s something inherently immoral involved in doing so. And there’s nothing inherently immoral about halal slaughter–anymore than there’s anything immoral about kosher slaughter.

It’s all about the market, really. When I lived in Uganda, all the meat we purchased from our local supermarket was halal. There was a small Indian (Hindu) community in the area (to which our shopkeeper belonged); the rest of the population was mixed Muslim and Christian (mostly Catholic or Anglican). The Muslims were the single largest group.

So of course the meat the shopkeeper sold was halal. If it wasn’t halal, his Muslim customers couldn’t eat it and therefore wouldn’t buy it. If it was halal, everyone could eat it.

Sounds like it’s a similar situation in the Dearborn neighborhood in question.

Well, I think it’s stupid. Why didn’t they do it years ago then? It’s b/c the Muslims are moving in very quickly. I never heard of such a thing. This would be unacceptable in the 50’s and 60’s. What is happening to America my country?? 😦

But this is a marketing strategy. Not a legal requirement.

Are you Bella’s cousin? 🙂 You drink Kosher coke facing east within 18 minutes before or after sunrise and/or sunset.

Actually, You drink kosher coke like you would drink coke.
When it is kosher for passover, it means that in addition to being bottled under the supervision of a rabbi, it was bottled without any yeast or other rising agents.

BTW bella, I’m in NY right now and I don’t see any Menorah’s being displayed. You may not know this but Rockefeller Center displays a small christmas tree ever year. Maybe you’ve seen it on TV.

You really are funny…and someone else asked me about a Bella. She/he must have the same fighting spirit as me.LOL.
Ohhhhhhhhh so that’s how you make Coke. Is it specially delivered to your house? How do you get it? And how do you know it was supervised? 😃 Does the Rabbi carry a gun? 😃

The problem is not that the food is halal per se but that this might become a trend which could eventually deprive non-muslims of the right to choose what they want to eat and what not to eat.

You are right, its even possible they might even rename it McDhimmi’s to make muslims happy.
That’s exactly the problem! Muslims want all kinds of concessions made to them but they don’t reciprocate! Give them an inch, and they take a mile! Why can’t people see that! They say that they respect other faiths, but that’s just taqqiya! Unless we sit up and take notice, all our freedoms will be eroded little by little under the tyrannical Islamic boot!

I’d rather eat Kosher than Muslim. (No offense!)

Kosher Coke sounds good! How can I get some? The lid should be shaped like a small Yamakah. (spelling?)👍
