Would You Attend a Reverent OF Mass Such As This Mass?

One thing I like about the OF is that the Confiteor is said by everyone.

Permit me to go off on a tangent for a minute. Has anyone been in an EF where the “Domine non sum dignus” was not said by the congregation after the Ecce Agnus Dei? Only the celebrant said it?

To be truthful, I have only heard the EF congregation say this audibly once or twice. I hope that most at least say it quietly.

It’s not that difficult if the kids (on that video) can follow it and respond in Christianized Latin. Actually in high school I thought Latin was easier than Shakespeare and I got the Excellence in English award. Go figure.

Yes, it is a beautiful mass,. but how many of you would understand it? We have to move on and let the past be where it is. Today, would you be wearing the same clothes as you did in high school? In essence, it is beautiful, but you know that the newly ordained priests do not even study Latin in the seminary.

I certainly understood almost everything. Whatever I didn’t understand would be easily remedied by getting a missal, or at least some print offs.

Also, you are looking at it with the wrong attitude. It’s not that we are “stuck in the past,” we are simply trying to put things back where they should be. There should have been no great break in the Mass. The NO was intended to be celebrated in continuity with the old rite.

The Mass shown in the video is not a “hybrid” of the EF and the OF it is an Anglican Use Rite Mass. Only Anglican Use Rite parishes celebrate it, so it isn’t available to the average Catholic. Considering the new translation is coming out Advent of this year, it’s a moot point. Most Catholics will be attending the new Mass translation, not this Mass.
