Well for goodness sake. I really wish I hadn’t gotten involved now that I have crossed you Elizabeth. My beef wasn’t rven really with you, but with Tigg. But now that we are neck deep in it, I see your playbook runs deep. You are now saying things like “its very telling” and claiming that you have been marginalized, when in fact it was the opposite positision that You were marginalizing. And now, you have already begun the character attack, or as I call it ,“phase II of putting someone in thier place”. Talk about telling. I guess the next time someone dismisses my view just because it “came off rude” I should just give up, eh?

This has spiralled out of control, and I regret the whole thing, but I do stand by my statement that Tigg shouldn’t dismiss a post just because he doesn’t like the tone. I agreed with rhe supposed “rude” post. And there was truth in it. Sorry if that offends.

Thanks to all for your comments on this post. It is very helpful to me to hear your varied points of view on this, even if you don’t agree with what I think is best.

Please pray for me, and love each other always, in the Lord Jesus, especially when you disagree!

Pax Christe,

I would love to attend any kind of Latin Mass. I have never been to one. I am a convert of 8 years and live in a small rural South Dakota town in the Diocese of Sioux Falls where one priest has 3 churches. To top it off my priest from India barely speaks English. He is a great guy, and tries really hard. I would even love it if the Diocese would send a priest to visit churches and provide a Latin mass even once a year.

Sorry if this sounds a bit trite, but it’s not about US – it’s about HIM
.

There is a place for socializing and Mass isn’t the place.

There are many opportunities for fellowship :

Coffee and doughnuts after Mass, Parish council meetings, Kof C meetings, Parish BBQ or picnic, Rosary solidarity, etc.
Sadly, some of us belong to a parish where there is limited parking and not much time between Masses. We are encouraged to leave as quickly as possible to allow others from the next Mass to find a parking space. As for parish council meetings, our parish doesn’t seem too keen on non-members coming to the meetings.

All of those other meetings sound great, but they don’t exactly cater to those who work nights. I guess we could always find other jobs to accommodate their schedules. 🤷

Pax Christe,
Another thought I’ve had is, when you get to your new parish, maybe offer one Mass that incorporates the changes you want to make and see what kind of attendance / reception you get. Then maybe you can incorporate some of the changes into the other Masses if it is received well.
🤷

I like this point. In fact, that is my plan. People like choices, not “one size fits all”.

I think we should keep the hymns. Its good to have some things in latin - gloria, sanctus etc. Overall i sort of like it the way it is & i wouldnt necessarily like all those changes. Good sermons would be good - but that really requires variety which requires enthusiasm. Where i go we have all these things -.including good sermons, so i cant complain.

So, can we assume that Heavenly Mass we learn about in Revelation is said in Latin?

No need for Mass in Heaven, we’ll see HIM fave to face 🙂

Where is this mentioned in the Apocalypse of St. John ?

Yes, if there is Mass in Heaven, it will be in Latin 👍

… I am interested if you would…
I don’t even understand everything you propose, yet I think you have given words to my sentiments of what would enhance my beliefs and Catholic experience.
And to think I’ve only 8 RCIA classes under my belt…
So…YES!!
Just give me directions when the time comes.😃
I am serious…

It would make no difference to me. Any authorized version of the mass is acceptable. In fact anyone promoting one over the other might be bringing scandal upon the church.
If this is the case, we’ve been in and continue to be in a state of scandal since Advent of 1969, as clearly the Nouvus Ordo (OF) has been almost exclusively promoted since that time.

I agree that Mass is Mass, but the suggestion of “scandal” is ludicrous, IMO.

Pax Christe,
Will do. 👍

Did I miss something? An entire thread has gone missing! “What happened” discussing the decline of attendance at mass since the New Mass was incorporated. Where did it go?

Actually Mass was the wrong word…I should have said the Heavenly Liturgy…see rev chapters 4 and 5 and you will see the Mass is based on the heavenly liturgy.
