How about a rephrase of your question, Eric?

Would you or anyone leave the Church “if/when Rome mandates communion in the hand, standing?” I would guess there will be a lot more yesses to this than with your OP.
If you look at history you could say that your question has already been asked and the answer was yes, quite a few people left the Church in disobedience.

If Rome dictates we pray standing on one foot and balancing a frisbee, that is how I will pray. If Rome dictates Mass is to be celebrated by priests dressed as clowns, that is the Mass I will attend. that is not going to happen because Rome is concerned at all times and places with worship as Christ himself has dictated in matter and form, and in the details he left to her decision, she is concerned with reverence and propriety. Obedience is the root of all virtue and all spiritual health, so I will obey.

anyone who answers this question yes is on the wrong forum and needs to hop on over to non-Catholic religions
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

I think I could run out of my 6000 character limit before I could give enough thumbs up to this post. I’m so tired of people treating their personal interpretation of preferred form as though it is the source and summit of worship. I would stand on my head for mass if that’s what the church wanted, although I admit I would need something to help me with my balance since I’m terribly shakey when upside down.

This is a no brain-er question for any True Catholic who Believes in the True Presence of Christ Hidden Miraculously in Consecrated Eucharist’s.

Although I am somewhat surprised but not the least unexpected that this question would ruffle some feathers and leave some irked given some of the responses.

Peace
Chris

LOL! I already went through this!

When I returned to the church after a very long absence (pre Vatican II) I thought communion in the hand had been mandated because that’s how everyone at my church received!

As soon as I learned better I began receiving on the tongue, though standing because of the inability to get up from kneeling without an altar rail to help.

How do you mean, Cristiano? Do you mean that people left the church because of CITH being allowed?

Yes, I mean that people left the Church because they did not accept changes to disciplines.
That’s sad. Do you mean the CITH discipline in particular, as, after all, it wan’t made compulsory - there was still the choice to receive COTT.

Or do you mean another discipline, not CITH?

Just because it wasn’t compulsory does not mean that people didn’t leave because if it. I doubt it was the sole reason for a lot of people that left, but it was probably on the list.

I don’t see reception of Holy Communion in the Hand as being so much as strongly being versed as “Mandated” as it was another sanctioned option in the Church made by Pope Paul VI as with reception of Holy Communion on the Tongue.

Both are completely acceptable. The arguments surrounding this fall into two categories.
#1. Reception on the Tongue being a Pre-Vatican II gesture of reception.
#2. The on-going personal argument that one preference of reception is more reverent than the other.

What I think should be far more important with the added cognizance of reverence is how the Human Soul is Disposed in Reception ((“before”)) receiving Holy Communion and being sure your own Soul is free of Serious Sin so as not to offend Jesus by adding an even greater sin on your soul by blaspheming Jesus Christ our Savior sending your soul into Hell-Fire.

I have received COT for several years now and would not go back for anything.

I would celebrate if that ever happened. One can only pray.

This seems silly. For many of us kneeling is both painful and difficult. Probably few would leave, but more likely many, especially the older and infirm , would receive much less frequently like in the "good old days " before the entire congregation lined up like they do now. (On a side note, try to spell tongue correctly.)
I think if you physically can’t and deep down on your heart you know you can’t-then you can’t. But we can’t forget the GIFT we are recieving and the respect and reverance it deserves

I’m sure it wouldn’t be required for those who find kneeling painful and/or difficult. One would just have to let the priest know so that he could accomodate their physical limitations.

Respect and reverence do not simply come from a physical gesture. The problem that you correctly pointed out has to do with the lack of understanding and/or acceptance of the gift Whether we receive in the hand or on the tongue we can still show a failure in understanding and/or acceptance if we depart from imitating Christ through what we think, what we say and what we do before and after communion.

No :nope:. Who would leave the true Church that Jesus, the son of GOD founded for the salvation of souls, for a couple of small rules?

No one left just because they couldn’t receive COTT. People left because the mass suddenly, not organically morphed into an almost unrecognizable entity.

If I’m honest with myself, I don’t know what I would do if the extraordinary form of the mass was banned though. I would probably be attending masses in hotel rooms, or better yet, join a group which will always celebrate the EF.

Just being honest.

Does the form of the Mass matter so much as to leave the Church that contains the Truth?

So you are saying that a form of the Mass is more important than eternal salvation.
