Would you like to see a phasing out of the Novus Ordo Missae leading to a return to only the TLM?

As a former protestant I have to disagree. I have never been to a non-denominational, or any other service, that has:
  1. vestments
  2. altar servers
  3. set scripture readings
  4. kneeling
  5. altar candles
  6. a crucifix on the altar
  7. Entrance procession
This does not include the things that we also have at my Mass like bells and incense.
You left out male-only pastors. 😉

Also, blue jeans. 😃

Saint Rafael, I think you read the wanderer too much

I don’t read the Wanderer. I read the Remnant. 😃

The Wanderer went soft after Vatican II and became a cheerleader of the novelties, modernism. 😦

This is quite an audacious statement. Have you really attended every Mass in every diocese in the U.S. to be able to substantiate this claim?
I, too, have never seen the abuses that were described. Yet somehow one who attends the the TLM has the audacity to tell us what the norm is? This has to be one of the most blatant examples of illogic I have seen on CAF. I regret that traditional catholics have such people represent them. For him to make such a statement he must either be a liar, stupid or brainwashed. In any case, I think he has shown his lack of credibility to make any claim.

I don’t think my eyes were deceiving me when I was watching the papal mass at St. Patrick’s this morning. Lo and behold, our Holy Father Pope Benedict was giving out Communion in the hand.

So you admit that it was distracting. I’m sure you were trying to focus on the beauty of the Mass and not the externals. 😃

I did focus on the beauty of the mass. And, I would not call the Holy Father distributing the Eucharist at mass, an external.??? Would you not rather call it an integral part. I would…

How about Latin Mass, Catholic Family News, and the New Oxford Review?
I received a free copy of The Latin Mass. Most of it was okay, but they had one article that ran counter to what the Vatican had said on a topic forbidden here. But no publication is free of some bias. That is why I try to understand the mission of a publication or website before wading into reading, much like we discussed earlier. The Wanderer also has some good articles and is not a single-minded paper. Yes, some of these publications might lead someone into an error, but such is the danger in most things we read.

I too received a free copy of The Latin Mass in the mail, twice. After perusing through it the first time and throwing it in the trash, I just did that with the second one, not even bothering to open it.

Well, technically, it isn’t (there can be Mass said without people’s communion) but let’s say it is. So even more so, you shouldn’t be noticing such things. And did you count all those that received in the hand too and calculate the percentages while gloating? Don’t want to put words in your mouth though. 🙂

Ok, but what should I do with all the free rosaries they send me in the mail?

Let’s see, there were 251 men, and 198 women. I could not tell on those totally covered with veils. Did you get them? Oh yes, and anytime people from the congregation receive communion, it is an integral part of the mass.

I think Fr. McLucas, who had been the editor of LM, got suspended or something. I haven’t read the newer issues from cover to cover though.

Have you (or do you} read the New Oxford Review? Unfortunately they got suckered into the Iraq War discussions and it has perhaps lost them a lot of subscibers.

Oh, and MSNBC did the same, at least on the MSN web page for my computer. I don’t watch them any more on TV because of the extremely anti Catholic cartoons they showed on TV. And they then refused to show those about Mohammed, because they wanted to be tolerant. Go figure.

I believe they always have. Why do you think that presidential candidates pander to the Christian right? Why do you think that Catholics are still martyred today? Did you forget the Byzantine Metropolitan who was just martyred in Iraq?
The Media hates Catholicism with a passion. They are blatant atheists. The average Catholic is a cafetria Catholic. Catholics do not take religion seriously with 23% Mass attendance, 90% contraception rate.
How much further can he go? Are you a parent? When your child does something wrong, do you correct him or do you hound him? A real father corrects, expresses disappointment, gives guidance, but never responds with vengance. The Pope has responded as a true father.
He can include a total ban on homosexual priests. The most important part is that he punishes the bishops who covered it up. He needs to suspend, remove, and defrock a couple of bishops.
The Church does not teach that Judaism is a false religion. Were you paying attention to what he said. He said that sitting in the synagogue made him think that Jesus prayed and taught in such a house of prayer. He called it a house of prayer and he also pointed to Jesus as the bridge between the Jewish faith and the Christian faith.
The Church has always taught through the magisterium that Catholicism is the only true religion, all others false. The New covenent in Jesus replaced the old covenent and the Catholic Church is the new Israel. St. Paul himself in Acts and his letters, went to the synogouge only to preach Christ and he tried to convert the Jews.
So you assume that you understand this better than the Pope?

Maybe the Holy Spirit made a mistake.

I will pray for you and those like you who seem to suggest that you have some kind of infallible insight that the Popes and the Councils of bishops lack.

I believe that you would be better off spending more time with the great saints who loved the Church and the Popes, even those who made serious mistakes in the past.
What does the holy spirit have to do with Communion in the Hand? Nothing! That was a governing decision or prudential decision of Pope Paul VI. It was not infallible or anything. Pope Paul VI was a weak man who caved to the pressure from the ecumaniacs in Europe and Belgium. In his indult, he even stated that most of the bishops polled, were against this move. He stated in his own indult his preference for recieving on the toungue.

The great Saints and Popes loved traditional Latin Mass and the Magisterium. They would be in the front lines battling all this modernism. If Thomas Aquinas walked into a moder Catholic Mass he would have a heart attack or wonder what was that Protestant service.
