Many use homes for crimes.We may all be innocent until proven guilty, but we are not all law abiding… many criminals who have committed a crime and used a car. Why should we let criminals get away so easily?

Government taxes / fees for driving “excessive” miles have already been proposed in several states, to be based on data collected at the annual inspection. No need to facilitate ways to make this easier. In the sense that there is no right to a license, driving is indeed a privilege, but then privacy is a constitutional right. To pick a trivial example, ten years ago could one have predicted that there would be cities in the U.S. that would make both paper bags and plastic bags illegal? That would make it illegal to sell a bottle of water? To pick a much more serious example: who would have imagined a generation ago that it would be illegal for a parent to bring cupcakes to their child’s school, but that condom distribution in that same middle school would be encouraged by the government? “Would these things really happen?” Indeed.Would these things really happen? It would not be you that they track, but those in crime investigations, such as when a car is used at the scene of a crime.

I personally think that it would be a crime NOT to use this technology as a part of law enforcement. Hey, we already use cell phones to track people and I don’t see any complaining (maybe I just can’t see it).
In crime investigation, a ‘person of interest’ may not have done the crime, but they are ivestiged as if they did the crime until they are clared (or not). I do not support mandatory traking devices on all cars.It would not be you that they track, but those in crime investigations, such as when a car is used at the scene of a crime.

Agreed. Even if the tracking system were restricted by law and department policy to protect our rights, and that is a big if, there are bound to be a few bad cops and other bad individuals looking to exploit the tracking technology for nefarious purposes.
