Would you support the Traditional Latin Mass in the vernacular?

Indeed, I’d imagine you’d get used to it pretty fast.

When the ultra-conservative priests at my home church used Latin during the propers at Mass, I had no trouble following along or knowing what was happening. A little practice and most folks, if not all, should be good to go.

It is interesting that many people seem to think that the language of the Latin Mass is difficult to learn or is some kind of obstacle to understanding.

Look at how quickly today’s youth can learn and understand hip-hop “lyrics”! 😃

An alternative to the Novus Ordo in any language. Didn’t realize the field would cut my text off so soon.

Nothing can supplant the Traditional Mass in Latin. But a Traditional Mass even in the vernacular is still preferable, I think.
Those who voted for the latin mass in the vernacular are not traditionalist in the strictest sense. I belong to a Traditional Catholic Church and no one there would want to see the mass in the vernacular. All would disagree with Vat II. So many of you who say that you are traditionalists are nothing but frauds. The folks on Fisheaters.com are the real deal. I will not be on this forum again.

Frauds on the internet? Shocking.

Fisheaters is probably as good a place as any to talk smack if you can’t get parts for your CB radio.

I haven’t read all the posts, so I don’t know whether this hs been stated or not. I’ll state it anyway.

I may be wrong on this, but I understand that the Anglicans who are in communion with Rome use the Anglican Rite mass. This is ( a modified version of ? ) the TM in the vernacular. I had attended, many years ago, an Anglican “Catholic Mass” and noted that although the language was in the vernacular it was not much different than the TM in Latin.

If we ever would return to the TM and it was in the vernacular, I would support it without question. The TM, in the Vernacular or Latin, is much more in evidence, spiritualy, than is the NO mass.

If you’re a Traditionalist why don’t you advertise it as we all do, or are you afraid of ridicule. I am and have been a traditionalist for 75 years and am not ashamed of it. If getting the TM back, instead of the NO, means having it in the vernacular instead of Latin, I would wecome it. The TM in any language conveys more spirituality and imparts a deeper sense of reverence and worship of God than the NO. Although the center of both mass versions is the Eucharist, I’d much rather have the TM.

I grew up an Anglican.
Prior to converting I attended an OF Mass with my wife for about 15 years.
I joined The Church in an F.F.S.P. parish – EF only, of course.

I recall telling the priest that one big thing that attracted me to the Latin Mass was how it reminded me of the Anglican service I was used to. (The one beginning on page 67 in he Book of Common Prayer – I still remember.)

would you go back to TAC when they achieve full communion?

That’s a tough one to answer right now.
I know I grew to love the EF (in Latin of course) but lately I’ve only been to one occasionally. For me it is really hard to get used to. (I’ll start a thread about my concerns soon.)
AT THIS MOMENT IN TIME I would love to use the Anglican Rite and still receive solid Catholic formation. I miss the altar rail and the reverence I used to experience.
On the other hand are all the reasons many posters, myself included, have put forth for retaining Latin.

Most simple-minded response yet. Absolutely no understanding of the value of the Traditional Mass apart from the use of Latin.

What are you talking about? I just did advertise it. I said I belong to a traditionalist Catholic Church. You people advertise it, but many of you are not true traditionalist. No member of my church would want a latin mass in english.

I would like to point out that simply calling people frauds and setting yourself up as a true traditionalist is a sort of ad hominem argument. In other words, a fallacious argument. You can’t just give an argument against TVM (Tridentine Vernacular Mass) by claiming that its supporters are frauds, and not true traditionalists. Without anything to back that claim up, you’re just using an ad hominem argument.

Dunno if it’s been said yet but:

The Latin Mass …
Of The Roman Catholic Church …
In English/French/Tagalog …?

Exactly what do you mean when you say “traditionalist Catholic Church”? Does the EF and OF exist side by side? Is your outfit affiliated with the local diocese and in communion with the Holy Father?

If you are saying that there’s some litmus test one need to pass in order to claim the “traditionalist” label, please be specific about the requirements. If your definition has merit, some folks may decide to change their CA profile to one more indicative of their religious orientation.
