Would you trade

What makes you think I don’t value the right to bear arms? I have - at least - 50 guns (that work if we went and tried to shoot them now - more if you count the ones that aren’t working (2 M1 Garands for example)). That doesn’t include the gun safe, reloading equipment, etc. etc. etc. Forget about the soft value - I’ve got a small fortune invested in guns. I’d say I value the right to bear arms.

It’s a simple question really. Are you willing to trade one for the other? Sounds like you aren’t - no judgement. Just a fact. I’m not saying I’m better than you are (because odds are - knowing myself like I do - I’m almost definitely far worse - I am after all a Calvinist, so I start the day totally depraved).

(and I LOVE Guinness by the way. I would say I love it almost more than life itself. I especially love the perfect line that exists in a pint between the head and the dark brown body of the beer. If I ended up alone on a deserted island and could only take one thing I think it would be a close call between a Guinness stout and my collection of Who albums…but I digress)

(I left it open for you to construct a trade you would do…)

Would you support a compromise banning abortion and guns? Social Justice
Would you support a compromise banning abortion and guns? Please assume whatever legal and procedural acts were needed to accomplish this are guaranteed to be accomplished and that the laws would be enacted in good faith. I know there is a ton of technical ways to nitpick these issues into the ground in substance and process, but a poll can only capture so much, so try and stick with the “spirit” of the question. And since this is a discussion forum, please discuss

Propose giving up something you do value, and then we can see how morally superior you really are.
My guess is that the 2nd Amendment was selected because it’s the one most discussed and debated in the current environment. It was a hypothetical question but would involve the maximum amount of compromise. So it seems.

Yeah I figured. My depravity is only equaled by my appalling slothfulness. Please forgive me.

Let’s not play God.

The OP is a question about nationalism.

And the idea that the trade would promote peace is erroneous–assuming it is not the will of the people.

It’s probably the one that Hamilton would have chosen (a pun).

But, the 2nd Amendment is a natural right.

Praying the Rosary is a more suitable alternative to the hypothetical trade.
