The bishops were addressing the moral dimension of public policy, as they explicitly noted in their statement.

I suggest we pick this up in the other thread, as this has nothing to do with Hillary Clinton.
I responded on the other thread.

I know plenty of people who are not pro-life, and they also vehemently hate Hillary. I don’t know why a strong, intelligent woman should engender such hatred. I think the idiots on talk radio have helped bring this mindless hatred to the foreground.

Then I remember that Eleanor Roosevelt had her vociferous detractors as well. She wasn’t pro-abortion, but she was a strong woman with strong opinions and an amazing lady. Yet, many people criticized her for her looks, and hated her.
Hatred and criticism for looks have nothing to do with most people’s opposition to Hillary Clinton.

Inexperience, and an outlook that promotes socialism, femminism, and death are what do it for most.

I checked lesser of two evils, although I can’t realistically imagine a major candidate any worse than she. Osama can’t run because he wasn’t born here and Chick is too old and out of touch. Senators Byrd or Kennedy, maybe? Now, that would be a tough choice.
Hell would still have to freeze over before I’d vote for a drunk womanizing, murderer and a so called “former”, but by his recent remarks, still member of the KKK. Nader? Yeah…

Without a doubt the answer would be a resounding “YES”!! First of all, she (as well as almost anyone else) would be better than the illiterate fool/liar/opportunist/false Christian who is in there now (who was not “reelected” BTW).
Second, her husband did one helluva good job as prez, and if she followed the same course, we just might be able to look forward to at least four (hopefully eight) years of peace and prosperity, just as the “Big Dog” gave us. Not only that, we’d get four more years (minimum) of Limbaugh and his “DittoLemming” cretins; Falwell, Roberson, Enyart and all the other Rush clones; “Faux News”; the mouth-breathing “Freepers”; and of course, the mainstream “liberal” (NOT!!!) media griping about her 24/7/365. What fun! It’s always amusing to hear the uninformed gas on about things they don’t understand. I for one, get a big kick out of seeing people make fools of themselves.
Run Hillary! You GO girl!!!
Relatvism run amok. Quid est veritas?

Hi FF. This is getting better than UK party politics, pass the popcorn will you!!
Nothing tops UK party politics. I’m afraid the US might be headed there as well after hearing the Democrats during the State of the Union.

She’s done a lot for New York state, she’s a hard worker, she’s gotten along with liberal and conservative senators alike, so sure, I’d likely vote for her if she ran. I’m not a one issue voter.
Ok. Name one thing she has done for New York - unless of course you meant that you are not a “one single issue voter” .

Lots and lots and lots of jobs!

LEFT the State!!!**

I am pretty gullible.

This is a joke question, right?
Waiting for the punch line.

Forcing employers and the Church to pay for contraceptives for their employees. Eliminating the conscience clause and mandating it!

While Hillary smiles approvingly!

Brad, are you upset because she hasn’t brought home enough “pork” for the state?

I’m upset because she is in no way connected to NY, She’s from Arkansas and she supports abortion. She also lies to make herself out be something she’s not.

Does the word carperbagger fit? Now ask yourself why she chose New York over all the other states.

Why do you surmise that I am upset? I was 100% serious when I asked the question and I’m against pork (not for religous reasons).

Can you answer the question rather than attempting to determine my feelings?

Name one thing she has done for New York. One thing - please.

Embarrassed us by going to Iraq and telling the soldiers the people back home are against the war.

Actually she was raised in Illinois in a Republican home. She met Bill in law school I think and then the rest is History…

I was in New York, in Cooperstown for a baseball tournament for my son a few summers ago. I tunred on the TV and caught Hillary screaming about Illinois stealing their steel jobs and that they had to fight for their jobs. I hope she never gets the idea to come home.

What was the word someone was using, carpetbagger, turncoat, ?

Yep, Hillary is a circus. She and Bill have so many illegal things they have been sort of tied to that you can’t even imagine. The Dems would have you think it is all about sex. That is the least of our gripes about them.

Hillary is a polarizing figure of a woman. Now, I asked you about proabortion candidates over there. You have them? Right? What do you Catholics do? Does your government force you to pay for the abortions that they give for free to others? In your taxes, of course. How does the church teach you about abortion, then?

You need more than popcorn here when Hillary is the discussion.

Oh, dear. She’s a carpetbagger. The worst political crime. Can’t have any of that, can we? As if such hasn’t been done by pols from both major parties at one time or another.

She may have carried that label before, but no longer. And as for her effectiveness, ask her colleagues in the Senate. She’s admired even by those who don’t share her politics.

As for me, I’d vote for her, but I’d prefer a centrist in 2008, preferably to the left, but I can live with a right leaning centrist.

Now let’s see.
  1. By being a carpetbagger she is familiar with the nature and problems of NYS. not
  2. Being a non- native New Yorker she is truly interested in what’s best for New York (and not her own political ambitions). not
  3. She is interested in power in Washingotn - definitely.
  4. Out of 17 million New Yorkers no one is better qualified.

I have to disagree with this one Fitz, They would have you think it’s a “vast right wing conspiracy”.
