It seems to me the current actual threats to Constitutional rights are coming from various state governors, driven not, apparently, by nefarious intent, but rather by good intentions, cf. Raleigh yesterday I think

Well that is a different diagnostic criterion than you advanced in post #13.
I suppose the criteria can be made to fit.
 
I note that no one has asserted that Trump does not crave dictatorial powers.

Correct. I am presenting a citizen’s view who cares deeply about state of affairs in our Republic.

By supporting the one who tries to undermine the Constitution. Specific enough? On his own Trump would be powerless. Having a base to support him, he might get what he wants. Hopefully he will not.

Oh, I despise the Russian Putin, the Hungarian Orban, the Korean Kim, etc… I only know them from their own words and actions and I consider them the enemy of free society. Your mileage may vary.

It was so successful that after 29 posts we still have not gotten back to the constitutional question of presidential power. For the record, not a single constitutional scholar agrees with Trump’s proclamation, and some Republicans have even spoken out against this kooky remark of his.

No one has asserted that he doesn’t have 3 lungs either. Generally, normal people feel no need to refute something unless there is evidence proving a case incontrovertibly.

And why would anyone care what you or anyone else thinks about Trump enough to disprove an opinion? You think he does. I don’t think he does. Life goes on.
 
I suspect pray is a foreign word to many on this board, if the tone and tenor of posts are to be believed.

Whatever. Usually on a thread like this the usual suspects come out to defend Trump and refute the premise of the original post. Just surprised.

That’s the problem. His best is not good enough. His best seems far too self-involved and personally aggrandizing. Is loosening environmental standards doing his best for the country or for his polluting business supporters?

I do NOT hate Trump, I despise him along with the ones whom he admires. It is surprising that there are Americans who do not see the similarities between Trump and Putin and Orban and Kim and Erdogan and Xi, etc… Truth is that he does not have the power these despots do, but he craves it - according his own words.

The best definition for the POTUS that I have seen is that he is a “bee esser”; even he doesn’t believe half the stuff he throws out there; I’m not sure it is intended to be factual, and I’m not sure he even remembers half of the bee ess he does throw out there. It is more like rhetoric than fact/plan. As noted above by others, ymmv.
