I saw plenty of condescending remarks on here before the announcement. At least now maybe we will be allowed to defend ourselves. It sickens me how many “good” catholics look down their noses at anyone who disagrees with their personal opinion (not Church Teaching, mind you…personal opinion). May their hearts be humbled and may they use their energy defending the Faith

I can still see the flag icon. In the lower right-hand corner of each post, between the “Link” icon and the arrow, there’s a row of three dots. If I click on that, two further icons appear, one for “flag” and the other for “bookmark.”

Flagging a post is not what gets someone suspended. It was not and is not all someone gets suspended for. The flagging notifies the moderator to look at the post. They decide if someone gets suspended.

I’m pretty sure the inmates are running the asylum

Seems like it. I feel like a child and Mom is following me around slapping my hand for everything.

Not really, in my experience. Whenever I’m rude, they’ll suggest edits to my post or else it will be deleted within a certain period of time. If you’re immediately suspended, I’m guessing something seriously wrong was said, rather than just a crappy tone issue.
The only thing I’ve ever been suspended was for criticizing the mods (over their system for deleting posts). They don’t seem to like that.

I’m not on here much but there used to be a way to flag a post if you didn’t like it.
There was never a time where not liking a post was grounds for flagging it.

Flagging is for posts that are inappropriate for whatever reason.

and suspension is the exception, not the norm, on a flagged post. Moderators review what is flagged and sometime leave it be, sometimes edit, and sometimes remove it. Suspensions and bans only happen for extreme or repeated actions.

Yeah I remember 10 years ago we’d get threads like “Any tips for a large family,” and nowadays it’s more like “How do I tell Father I’d prefer to use xe/xir pronous for my baby’s baptism” (I’m exaggerating obviously, but you get the point).
I don’t know what threads you’re looking at but I see the exact opposite. Constant moral panic over communism is the event of the day and there’s uncountable threads about how x thing is terrible and sinful or x person is.

And then we have threads on how Franco wasn’t such a bad guy and support for scientific race theory

Honestly I think a lot of the racist/pro Franco/communists-are-around-every-corner threads happen because previously most people who would have opposed and called that stuff out were banned right away, so people who thought that way didn’t feel the same need to defend it.

I’ve had seven posts flagged in a matter of a few days this week.It used to be one couldn’t attack another poster or say derogatory things about the clergy. However political figures were fair game. The past few years with the discourse format, that’s not even allowed.Additionslly, seemingly innocuous comments are flagged and removed if another poster is just being flag happy

Never thought I’d meet someone here who thought 4chan humor was funny.
