So then whats wrong with moderate use of marijuana? And heavy, prolonged drinking is bad, moderate drinking is not.

Because there’s no such thing as moderate use of marijuana. (And I say this as a former marijuana user) You are either high or not high. You can drink without getting drunk. So then whats wrong with moderate use of marijuana?
No they are not. I live in Colorado where it is legal. It’s treated like alcohol. You must be 21, cant do it while driving, (you can get a DUI) need a special license to sell it, cant use it in public. I think this is all good. I seriously doubt that they will legalize it to that extent of using it all the time. And yes you can moderate it, especially with the eatables and drinks that they sell, now you are not even doing the harm to your lungs of smoking it and only having one of these eatable will not impair you as close to one of 2 beers. The problem is that you cannot use marijuana “in moderation”. It’s very hard to control how high you get. You can take two puffs off a pipe and be high as a kite. Drinking is allowed because you can have two beers and still be totally able to function. Another issue is that is much more difficult to monitor. If someone is driving drunk or caring for children drunk it is easy for a cop to come and give a breathalyzer test. A cop can’t make you take a urine test on the side of the road. Most people pushing for pot use want to be able to use it at ALL times. Even when operating vehicles, caring for children, working, etc.
Completely disagree. You can be a little high, and then be EXTREMELY high, just like you can be a little tipsy and completely drunk. Especially if you choose to eat marijuana instead of smoke it. Then you don’t even have the harm to your lungs from smoking.Because there’s no such thing as moderate use of marijuana. (And I say this as a former marijuana user) You are either high or not high. Where legal, it would still be a sin, but not a mortal one, unless you did things you should not while under the influence (like booze)I live in Colorado. It is no longer a crime. I do agree that no Christian should break civil law and that is a sin, but civil law says its legal now.![]()
That is exactly what I think, it must be venial. But all venial sin can indeed lead to mortal sin especially if you were to smoke and drive or operate heavy machinery.Where legal, it would still be a sin, but not a mortal one, unless you did things you should not while under the influence (like booze)
Civil law says that homosexual marriage is ok too.I live in Colorado. It is no longer a crime. I do agree that no Christian should break civil law and that is a sin, but civil law says its legal now.![]()
Who says alcohol is good?Who’s saying alcohol is good?

When it’s illegal you are committing scandal and contributing to others regarding scandal. So if i went to Amsterdam or Uruguay its not a mortal sin or even Washington state but anywhere else it is illegal I am committing a mortal sin.
Completely agree, but you can compare alcohol and marijuana use to sexual morality. When marijuana was first illegalized it was because of yellow journalism and racism.Civil law says that homosexual marriage is ok too.
We are quite capable at making bad law.
And I counter disagree, lol. I was quite the drug user in my early, stupid years and I could take one toke and be flying high. It all depended on what kind of marijuana it was. (good quality vs bad quality). And now with it being legal in a few states a lot of people grow the medical kind which is VERY potent.Completely disagree. You do get high off nicotine, and nicotine is much more harmful to your health than marijuana, though the high doesn’t last as long. When it’s illegal you are committing scandal and contributing to others regarding scandal.
When it’s legal, you are not committing scandal. But it still a sin, but most likely a Venial one (like smoking tobbaco).
But unlike tobbaco (which you really don’t get high off of), smoking weed can quickly get you high. In that case, you will be committing the sin of smoking plus the sin of Intemperance. So even if venial, when smoking pot, you can quickly be committing two sins at the same time (as most people do get high). Eating weed only (no smoking), would be on part with alcohol.
Then, if you do something like drive while high, you’re committing a moral sin.
Drugs… very complicated… that’s why it’s must easier to just say no.![]()
They sell now what they call “3.2 weed”. Which is suppose be like 3.2 alcohol that isn’t suppose get you that high at all. How is stronger weed suppose to be any worse than taking shots? I have taking many shots at my church for various events. How can you take shots and not get plastered? And I counter disagree, lol. I didn’t. What I am saying is that marijuana is a safer choice. You can’t say alcohol is bad and marijuana is good.![]()

Alcohol is not immoral, but marijuana is immoral. Alcohol can be used in an immoral manner, but not everyone who takes a drink is trying to get drunk. However, everyone who smokes a joint is trying to get stoned. There’s the difference. Marijuana is an evil thing to use and alcohol isn’t.I didn’t. What I am saying is that marijuana is a safer choice.
These people that drink but do not want it to alter their brain in any way (“get drunk” as you put it), what are they drinking for?Alcohol is not immoral, but marijuana is immoral. I completely agree with you. THC is not nearly as deadly as alcohol, but it should be used in moderation like alcohol or any other legal substance.Where there is a legal issue, then that is a difference. Otherwise, I don’t see the difference. Alcohol can be more dangerous, in fact, in the sense that taking enough of it can kill you immediately, whereas you simply cannot overdose on THC.
Otherwise, the issues are basically the same:
Are you taking enough of any drug (be it THC, alcohol, caffeine, whatever) that you have knowingly placed your mind in a situation where you are excessively vulnerable to sin?
Are your taking enough of any drug, then acting in any way that would endanger others? E.g., driving after drinking 10 pots of coffee, a case of beers or smoking 3 joints?
Are you taking enough of any drug that it is threatening your body?
Stuff that is completely irrelevant:
What drugs Jesus did/didn’t use on Earth.
My question to you is how is a substance like alcohol that has the ability to instantly kill you in an overdose not immoral, yet a substance like THC which is scientifically proven impossible to overdose on and not to kill you immoral?Alcohol is not immoral, but marijuana is immoral. Alcohol can be used in an immoral manner, but not everyone who takes a drink is trying to get drunk. However, everyone who smokes a joint is trying to get stoned. There’s the difference.
