Just to let those who were following this thread know I have returned.My largest parish has invited the other two communities over for Mass and a pot luck tomorrow. It is getting close.
One of the invited communities is 100 miles from the largest parish. Don’t know if we’ll have a lot of people from there, but I will go over to the middle parish to say Mass in the morning for those unable to make it all the way to Jordan. Mass at 8:30 in the morning in Circle (an hour away from Jordan) and at 11 in Jordan followed by the pot luck. I’m sure some of the other locals from Jordan will join in as well.
You know you are from a small town when you don’t think anything of calling a friend and driving an hour an a half one way just to do lunch

If you are coming from the east and heading west, look to the right as you pass main street. You should see a large gray church. You’ll be looking at the back side of the church. If you look to the left you’ll see the Jordan Community Bible Church. Just take a drive around the block and you’ll see the front of the church. The “rectory” is a trailer across the street next to the Assembly of God Church. We have 8 churches in Jordan and two bars and a pop of 320.

Ok, this is a true story…
My dad, brother, and I were driving home (not to a small town… we got about 88,000…) and we drove through a VERY small east texas town… and saw this big pile up of cars in the road… We all thought there’d been a wreck or something, but as we got closer, we saw what looked like a small black dog running down the middle of the road! There were people on each side, trying to get it… Buuuuuuut… when we got closer still, we saw that it wasn’t a dog… it was a PIG!!! A small, black, PIG!!! The people on either side of the road were the owners, trying to get Little Porky home…
Sigh… only in small towns do people break for pigs…
In my high school we couldn’t have a girl’s basketball team because there were only 5 girls in the school.
The owner let’s you leave with the items unpaid for because she “Knows you’re good for it.”Next time on my way through I will make it a point to stop in. You are right our varsity is 8 man and jr-jv is 6. How was the game…is that the one where we lost miserably or is that the one where we triumphantly won? I have 4 different schools that I am actively involved and I can’t keep track.
The church is always open, we can still do that in a small town.
We normally have Mass at 8:45 am on Sunday in Jordan and at 11:30 am in Circle. I then usually have Mass at 4:30 pm on Sunday in Richey.It is always nice to win…especially since we aren’t always the best as a team.
I think it is especially nice that you can leave your church open. What time are your services? I may have mentioned that I live in Williston but grew up in Lewistown so I do pass through. I love to take my kids to different churches. They like how they are so similar but each unique…so do I for that matter
Hey my dad was in Jordan with a band not to long ago. I think it may have been either for a wedding or a rodeo. I can’t keep track.

My mother lives on the outskirts of a small village and used to keep 4 cows for their consumption. One day the cows broke through the fence, headed up the road and ran into the town and down the main street. What a sight that must have been with the locals in their pickup trucks and others on foot chasing them trying to round them up! That was the most exciting thing that had happened there in months. Of course everyone knew whose cows they were, because in that village you not only kow all the people, you know all their animals too!Ok, this is a true story…
