when you’re making a tasty sandwich with meat at 11:55pm on Friday to be eaten at 12:01 am Saturday OR you see it’s 11:30pm Thursday and you know you need to finish that meat dish before midnight.
YES!!! Nice answer! How about THIS one, because that reminds me of ME, lol!

How about when it’s friday. It’s Lent. You make a home made pasta sauce that takes 5 hours to make for your linguini & this recipe is from your Sicilian grandmother, so the sauce is essentially thick red liquid currency, LOL!. So you eat your spaghetti & enjoy it SO MUCH, that you begin to feel GUILTY because you ENJOYED a meal on a friday during lent, & begin to wonder if you’re ENJOYING your meat-less meal, if that’s really fasting, LOL!

How about a home made Armenian soup that has a yogurt base w. pasta shells, onion & mint w. lemon juice added & you tear into THAT on a friday. I seem to ENJOY my meals on a friday, during LENT because I have figured out a way to abstain without suffering, LOL! I mean, really!

One time, I went into confession and confessed that I had American Chop Suey one lent friday night because a nice elderly couple (lonely) invited me to dinner & I couldn’t turn them down because his wife was cooking for ME! They kept talking so I’d be there for dinner & it had BEEF in it. I could tell it would’ve broken her heart if I left. SO I STAYED for dinner. I was trying to have the PERFECT lent, ya know? PERFECT! No slipping! The priest said I did the right thing. Sharing a meal with a lonely elderly couple was more a selfless act than giving up meat on a friday. Hey, the priest said so, it was so, LOL!

Good response though man, that hit home on so many levels, LOL!!!

you bow your head when a funeral approaches and say a prayer of thanks that it’s not you or yours!!!
Just kidding, ya’ll…

I wholeheartedly agree with the priest 🙂 And you know… it often happens that when you absolutely want to make something perfect something comes up lol. But you know, I think this dinner was a choice given to you by our Lord and you made the right decision as you were charitable to others and loved our neighbors

I agree with the priest. I’m sure that meant much more to God than giving up meat would have. So I think being a friend and companion to that couple made it a more perfect Lent.

You know you traditional catholic when you go to mass and your the only one who receives communion on the tongue.

When you walk into a church built sometime after the mid '60s and you think youre a post-modern art museum. When you realize this is in fact a ‘church’ after finding the Tabernacle somewhere in a corner you began to grow nauseous.
Careful. Only certain beings that I know of get nauseous around God.
And I do not think you wish to be associated with those.
If you end up staying and by some minor miracle make it through the ‘mass’ without leaving before its over and hear the final hymn “Lets go out and make a difference” and then vomit; Yeah youre a ‘trad’.
You are welcome to the Judas shuffle.
The Lord’s supper is efficacious whether or not it is in the EF or the OF.
I would expect better of a Catholic then to use the word ‘vomit’ concerning the Mass.

I can assure you that these are not traits of a traditional Catholic.
A traditional Cathiolic will not get sick around the tabernacle, a traditional Catholic will not feel like vomiting after receiving the precious body and blood of our Lord.

A traditional Catholic will know and love the old traditions, and wish them to come back. But will also respect the authority of the church in humble obedience.

Wow, vz – What side of the bed did you get up on! I think that it is most correct and traditional to feel uneasy about actions that do not belong at a Catholic Mass. The ill feelings came not from being around God or having received Our Lord in Holy Communion, but from an honest conviction that others were blaspheming that same God and Lord. When one has a great love of someone or something and sees violence done thereto, not to have a negative reaction is unnatural. Wanting to protect and preserve what one believes in is a virtue, not to be condemned by one who is compliant in or neutral about such things. (not that this thread is the place for opinion or long comments, but is just for brief additions to the poll – it is too bad that several comments on items in the list have brought dissent into this thread that previously had been filled with joy)

You practically have an ulcer (if you don’t already have one!) when hearing that someone has left the Church, even more so if that person is now an evangelical Protestant.

…you see someone eating meat of Friday and you have to stop yourself from reminding them that it’s Friday.

vz, the vomit has nothing to do with the Mass. It has do to with the disrespect shown for Our Lord during said Mass.

Who isn’t respecting the church with humble obedience? Usually the non-trads are the ones who have problems with that.

You’re sitting on the train patiently arranging your 1962 Roman Missal ribbons for mass.

BTW, nothing shouts Catholic like all that ancient Saint art in the missals.

You know you’re a traditional Catholic when you and your sister go to check out the “prayer maze” behind the Protestant church and you say, “I feel like we’re trespassing.” and your sis says, “Because we’re Catholic?” “… Yeah.” 😃

When you were in Rome you touched your rosary to ever relic you could find and even things that a saint probably touched. 😉

When your brothers were altar servers and you were a little bummed that you couldn’t be one so you just memorized all the prayers in Latin and prayed the best Mass you could from the pew. 😃

It bothers you when people mix up the Incarnation with the Immaculate Conception. I don’t know how this confusion started, but I hear it a lot. 🤷

I admit. I used to think the immaculate conception referred to Jesus. Makes sense if you think about it. 😛

You know you’re a Traditional Catholic when…

…you can’t understand why other people ask so many questions.

😉

When you mentioned it I just had to stop and think about it… :D: Many people might not think about Jesus as being Incarnate because they don’t believe that he was Divine. Plus they both involve Mary so I could see the tomato/tomahto affect on non-Catholics.
